Magnum Research Phoenix .50-90

Before the Predator made its name as the classic big gun for big movie stars, the king of exagerrated handcannons was the Desert Eagle, a beast of a pistol chambered in a chunky .50 Action Expresss cartridge that needed a gas operating system to handle the pep. It was big, loud and at the time pretty impractical for anything other than being big and loud. Times changed though, and these days .50 AE is neither especially big, nor impractical for the world around it. But Magnum Research is looking to reclaim its old throne with its newest piece of kit, the Phoenix.
Like the old Deagle, the Phoenix is built around a gas-operated mechanism usually found on rifles, a whole new proprietary one based around its new cartridge: the .50-90 Dogma, a necked-up assault rifle cartridge big enough that the mag-well is situated infront of the trigger-guard, mauser style, while the inside of the grip is used to house an inertia-dampening block system to try and mitigate this thing's monstrous recoil. This thing's made stupid-thick and heavy to handle the pressure of the .50-90, but what you get in return for all of that is a gun that really lives up to the name of its ancestor by blowing a fist-sized hole right through whatever you point it at.

My one complaint with the Phoenix is that the gun's extraction system expects you to be able to handle all of its recoil without flinching. If you let your arm fly back, as you would with a beast like this, you practically guarantee a stovepipe jam...
