Payload
Dr. Mindy Susan Baptiste (a.k.a. Payload)
Written by: Null Kit
Of The Pack's few eccentricities, among its most apparent is its racially-biased hiring practices, showing a strong preference towards Orks and tolerating Trolls but rarely introducing humans or dwarves into their ranks, and outright forbidding elves entirely. But of course, exceptions can be made if an entrant is sufficiently 'Orky' or posesses a unique skillset. Mindy Baptiste, known among her peers as Payload, is one such exception, having earned her position within the brutal cartel in spite of being an Elf by enduring its renownedly dangerous hazing rituals and contributing her talents in chemistry to produce the Pack's trademark combat narcotics in-house. Owing to the inherently risky nature of illegally manufacturing addictive stimulants, Payload's lab eschews The Pack's normally centralized locationing and operates out of Raleigh's warehouse and shipping districts from an unmarked truck-garage basement, offering convenient proximity to both transport/distribution mediums and to a healthy source of income by way of tired workers needing a pick-me-up. The majority of her time 'on the clock' is spent producing The Pack's 'product-line' of designer drugs both recreational and performance-enhancing, but the flexibility of her base compounds and the Pack's ability to provide additional ingredients, combined with her talents makes her equally capable of producing made-to-order narcotics in limited numbers for buyers who are sufficiently trusted to receive blessings from Madame herself, and as such may be of interest to any readers of this data-cache as a source of such specialty substances.Word to the wise: Payload's stuff is of pretty damn phenomenal purity, no cutting on her end, but custom orders take a long-ass time to make. If you can get an opportunity to comission, call way in advance.

Personal history
Much of Mindy Baptiste's formative years and upbringing are relatively unremarkable in comparison to her peers in the Pack. Born in 2049 to two human parents, diagnosed with Thalassaemia at age ten but responded overwhelmingly succesfully to clinical treatment. Student records show her to have been an academically accomplished student, especially in chemistry where headhunting letters from Evo signify the possibility of a lucrative career in pharmecuticals. This would never come to be however when Mindy Baptiste, along with two classmates, were caught stealing chemicals and tools from a school science lab, allegedly with intent to produce and sell recreational substances.
One of the classmates who attempted the theft was Gloria Palomino, daughter of a member of the fledgling cartel setting up shop in Raleigh known as the Pack, who was looking to get in on the action herself. Mindy was a poster-child of the oft repeated adult fear of kids 'falling into the wrong crowd', agreeing to be Gloria's coconspirator and partner-in-crime. A spotless school record and promising career in medicine was pushed to one side in favor of making hard cash in the narcotics, with Mindy handling the production of narcotics in an abandoned subway service-station and Gloria distributing the homebrewed substances through her mom's connections.
Naturally, Gloria wanted to introduce her new friend to her mom's friends as an asset and earn her place as a fully fledged packmember, but the proverbial elephant in the room could not be ignored: Mindy was an Elf, and the Pack doesn't get along with Elves. Gloria earned some kudos for bringing in income, but she showed persistance in requesting an exceptiont to be made for Mindy to join her as a cartel-member. These repeated requests eventually made their way to the venerable leader Madame herself, who brought the two in to see what exactly all the fuss was about.
Madame did not care for the idea of having an Elf in the pack, its foundations partially rooted in defending against the bigotry experienced by ork and troll women from the Los Decas. But Mindy's talents with turning household and comercial chemicals into recreational highs couldn't be denied, and even a cartel has bills to pay. Madame gave her blessing to allow both Gloria and Mindy to be inducted as full members of the cartel, but on the condition that Mindy's initiation was to be intensified, so as to ensure her 'readiness' to be involved in an Ork gang.
Cartel hazing rituals have always been brutal, but the Pack took the cake with their attrition rates in would-be members. If you know where to look, you can find a few dozen trid recordings of tough trogs turning into whimpering messes or leaving with lifelong injuries. The result couldn't have been more surprising. Mindy had managed to endure the Pack's brutal hazing by the skin of her teeth, but her companion Gloria didn't. The second test pushed Gloria past her limit, and she was denied entry to the cartel along with being forbidden from trying again for a year and a day. But ultimately, Gloria left her mother and the pack completely two days after her failure, and to date hasn't knowingly been seen again. Mindy has since been inducted into the Pack as its first Elf member, given the name Payload and all the materials needed to produce substantially more potent and valuable substances en-masse, along with having her SiN burned to finalise her alliegence with the cartel. In spite of the sacrifices, she appears to have settled in without much issue.
