Julian dresses in a lot of cream and white and blue, as if to counter the darkness lurking in his heart.  He tends to appear very well put together, artsy, and academic.

Personal history

Hailing from an upper class, New York Witch family, Julian had a very strict upbringing.  There was little love or warmth in his house and value was assigned only in achievement.  He was never close with his family, but always did what was required.  It was in college that he began to branch out more on his own, meeting and joining the Orwick Coven in Boston.  

He was in his senior year that he met Griffin Summerville as a string of witch murders drew the attention of some of the community.  Julian was immediately drawn to the arrogant and clearly powerful witch and they began a relationship.  The historically lone wolf Summerville seemed charmed by Julian who seemed to convince the wild hedonist to be his and his alone, causing a lot of local eyebrows to raise.  

Over their three year relationship, Rhodes gained much magical lore and knowledge from Griffin, even hints to the deepest wish in his black little heart: that immortality was attainable.  It took him a long time, but he convinced Griffin to teach him some of his darker arts, and then turned on him, murdering him when he believed that he had gotten all that he wanted from the other witch.  

For almost a decade after the failure of the magic he'd thought he'd gotten from Griffin, Julian traveled the world trying to find the flaws in the casting so that he could master the art of drawing the magical force of other living, magical beings and making it his own as Griffin did.  He tried and failed, but learned much else that was forbidden.  While in Bucharest he ran into some witches who mentioned seeing Griffin in London and that let Julian know that his former lover had somehow survived the magic that should have killed him.  That had done.

He returned to Boston, their old stomping ground, and began the work of finishing what he'd started the decade before.

Julian graduated from Harvard with a degree in cultural anthropology.  He speaks fluent French and English, as well as whatever casting requires of him.

Employment

For some time, Julian served as a research assistant at the Harvard Museum of Natural History.  After his fallout with his coven in 2013, he vanishes from official record.  Most of his money is made in underworld magic dealing and the crafting of elicit magical items.

Outwardly, Julian is very sweetly academic.  He has a keen mind for history and enjoys debate and discourse.

Hidden from almost everyone, Julian is a monster.  He cares for nothing and no one but uses his outward beauty and softspokenness to get what he wants.  He is manipulative, lies about anything that will further his goals, and cares for no one except himself.

Social Aptitude

He comes across as beautifully sweet and somewhat fragile. Julian is a master of seeming passive and almost demure even though he is as sharp and hard as a blade. He uses the want of others top protect him to manipulate and hurt them, sundering people from their support structures until he is the only thing in their world.  He always seems so sweet and caring, considerate, and soft spoken, but that is all a very calculated act.
