The House of Sinclaire

The House Sinclaire is sometimes considered something of a supernatural mafia.  They trade heavily in secrets and information and much of their power comes from that information and their alliances with other powerful organizations.  They have long ties to the Templars and more recent ties to the House of Night.  While not generally regarded with outright hostility, most supernaturals assume that a Sinclaire is always looking for information or at the very least may take whatever they're told back with them to their House.  However, when they are needed supernaturals trust Sinclaires to keep their word and deal equitably and fairly as long as they are treated the same way.  They perform much of their politics under the guise of business.  They act as neutral arbiters in disputes when called upon and as diplomats and ambassadors.    If there is something you absolutely need to know, talk to a Sinclaire.

Structure

The Sinclaires are first a foremost a family.  They are led by the family patriarch/matriarch who primarily handles outside business, is the face of the family, provides vision and direction, and general oversight.  The Seer is magically tied to the patriarch through a blood bond, allowing them a certain amount of knowledge of each other's well being.  The Seer handles mystical and domestic matters, as well as being a check to make sure the patriarch is doing their job.     Beneath the Seer and Patriarch of the family, the hierarchy is very loose and broken up.  The family is extensive and does nearly everything in house.  They have doctors, scholars, spies, security, accountants, and all of them work in the way which works best for them.  Those working directly involved in the House's business are generally split up by geographic location and respond to someone appointed to be in charge of the area, either by the family in that area themselves or by the head of the house is someone isn't chosen by majority.

Culture

The Sinclaires often claim that not a single historical event of note has passed by without the presence of a Sinclaire since the founding of the House.  True or not, it speaks to their role as observers in history.  They are generally viewed as having one foot in the human world and one foot in the supernatural world.  They comprise one of several organizations that works to keep the two worlds seperate.  They do not act as police or enforcers but rather trade in information and diplomacy.  They are often brought in as third party arbiters in disputes between powerful supernatural factions.   Until recently they have played a primarily passive role, passing information to more aggressive organizations when something needed to be acted upon.  They are beginning to take a more obvious hands in the supernatural politics in the world under the leadership of Noah and Simone Sinclaire, the current patriarch and seer.    They are viewed by a lot of supernaturals as powerful and suspicious, but not immediately dangerous.  They are prolific though.
