Mainframe

    PREREQUISITE: INFLUENCE (ANY)
Mainframe computers are generally used to process large volumes of data, such as bank transactions, airline reservations, database searches, and the like. A mainframe can directly manage terabytes of data and efficiently sort and search them, but for real scientific number-crunching a supercomputer is needed. A mainframe comes with one user-interface (monitor and data entry devices) or can be accessed through a workstation, a laptop, or a personal link.
