Supercomputer

10 RP; SPACE 2
    PREREQUISITE: INFLUENCE (ANY)
These machines are used mainly for crunching astronomical reams of numbers. Uses include cryptography, engineering analysis, and heavy-duty scientific research. Whereas a mainframe is useful for searching reams of sorted and cataloged information, it takes a supercomputer to extract information from what appears to be random noise, such as searching for a certain person’s voiceprint on every call on a particular cellular network. A mainframe comes with one user-interface (monitor and data entry devices) or can be accessed through a workstation, a laptop, or a personal link. Two supercomputers constitute a four-space facility.
