Belliegha

The belliegha is rarely encountered in the wild, preferring instead to make its home in sleepy villages and towns, where it slithers to the bottom of the well to hide beneath the murky waters. A belliegha rarely needs to feed, preferring to wait and listen to the goings-on of the town, occasionally even developing an interest in local politics or taking sides in a dispute. But when its hunger begins to rise, all else is wiped away, and the creature's true nature as an indiscriminate killer is revealed.
The belliegha is a monstrous aberration consisting of a highly plastic body that extends out from an enormous maw. When this mouth is closed, the monster looks like a beautiful woman with blue skin, and indeed the creature often poses as a fae spirit or, rarely, a distressed maiden in order to lure its victims closer.
The belliegha typically strikes at night when a villager approaches the well alone, climbing nearly to ground level and making intriguing noises: song, poetry, or simple cries of distress are all effective in causing otherwise sensible people to throw caution to the wind and look down the well... which is often the last mistake they ever make. The belliegha's grasping tentacles are strong, and when its mouth opens to its fullest aperture, it can hold a small human inside itself whole.
Upon discovery, a belliegha typically disappears under cover of darkness, sometimes wearing the clothes of its victims, but all-out confrontations between the monsters and angry villagers often leave several dead in their wake.
