Bleak Hollows
Humanoid species that has gotten their humanity torn from their bodies and left as empty shells of their former selves. Generally despised as spreaders of corruption and killed on sight. Empty eye sockets, weak muscles, animalistic behavior, black veins and blood and dark grey skin.
Hollows are like zombies simply in the way that they appear as mindless humans and are generally aggressive if provoked. There are however some differences. Zombies are generally reanimated corpses either by magic or by virus, Hollows on the other hand are created by corruption which is a curse that lingers of the land. During the process of hollowfication the soul of person get progressively disintegrated until nothing but a husk remains. The soulless husk then starts searching out other beings, preferably ones with a soul to sate the craving for a lack of their own. As the hollowfication gets more and more severe certain marks appear, black veins, yellowed eye whites, loss of eyesight or teeth are common and the skin turns pale grey. In extensive cases of corruption the creature may even sprout extra limbs or transform to something even more horrifying. In rare cases hollows may even retain fragments of memories from the time as a human, mumbling the name of their loved one etc. If a creature dies of corruption more than a mere body is required, only True Resurrection or Wish can bring a person back.
SoThey're not rotten
They prefer souls over souless being
Some may even "communicate"
They're made by a curse
Many of them are blind
