Mirin Special Forces: Dustspeakers, Speardancers, and Warkeepers

The Mirin tribes are diverse, with each tribe having its own martial history and culture. That being said, there are a few military traditions that pop up in various forms among many of the Mirin peoples. This article details a few.
The Dustspeakers   The Mirin have, necessarily, become closer to nature as they learn how to adapt to and survive together its harshest environments. Some tribesmen attune themselves to and ultimately harness the powers of nature in the protection of their tribes, and these individuals are often known as Dustspeakers. These spellcasters often study medicine and the natural world with equal fervor to their martial training, and serve important tribal roles as keepers of wisdom, interpreters of the will of the desert, and consultants in the dispensation of justice. The same understanding of the natural order that positions them well to play these roles also allows them to channel natural energy in fearsome and sometimes terrifying ways, and a tribe that has more than a handful of Dustspeakers as part of its defenses is a force to be reckoned with, as these warriors can unleash curses, earthquakes, torrents of acid, and more in the defense of their people.
The Speardancers   Most members of the Mirin learn to defend themselves and the resources of the tribe. It's a natural part of growing up in the Great Desert, under threat of demons, wild beasts, and other Folk, desperate and predatory. But some Mirin push way beyond the prowess required for simple survival, elevating physical combat into a discipline and an Art. These individuals are often known as Speardancers, though they are equally comfortable wielding mace, sword, bow or just the open hand. As dedicated as they are deadly, Speardancers are the ones the rest of the tribes forces look to for inspiration and leadership when the possibility of conflict becomes unavoidable. Speardancers put their total faith in their abilities, becoming fearlessly confident, and the Warscream of a Speardancer in their full power is enough to quail even the hardiest of attackers. They can deliver many attacks in the time that lesser warriors take to line up and attempt a single one, and their relentless training empowers each strike to deal more damage and inflict more terrible wounds than they might be reasonably expected to in other circumstances.

The Warkeepers   Those members of the tribe most dedicated to its preservation are expected to become masters of all ways of knowledge, acquiring a sufficient knowledge of the Desert to draw upon its natural magic while simultaneously surpassing even the Speardancers in martial prowess. Each tribe generally only recognizes one of its number as a Warspeaker at any given time, the uncontested champion of combat, and these individuals are often temporarily given full authority to lead the tribe and to dictate its tactics in the days before and during a major skirmish or pivotal battle. Though Warspeakers are expected to be strategic minds, they prefer to lead from the front, inspiring their forces with ferocious feats of courage and boldness, leaping into the fray without fear or hesitation, and turning the tide of battle with only their minds and bodies.
