Eresla
Goddess of Agriculture, Herbalism, and Hunting
Eresla is the goddess of agriculture, herbalism, and hunting. Once a mortal adventurer during the First Empire, she fought against long forgotten villains and terrible evils that rose to threaten the First Empire. At the Empire's height, she and her compatriots slew a death god whose name is lost to time, a death god who had themself slain the previous god of harvest and hunts, and, shortly after her victory, was ascended to godhood to fill the void. She and her followers were instrumental in the creation of early aqueducts and irrigation systems before the fall of the First Empire.
In the time since the fall of the First Empire, she and her church have assisted in the growth of agriculture and sustainable hunting across the continent of Morlodan and beyond, with her clerics preaching using the land in a way that will not damage the natural resources available. Most farming settlements have churches to Eresla, and nearly all farmers venerate her. Many druids hold Eresla in high regard, as her followers are chief among those that protect the wilderness from being too deeply encroached upon by civilization.
Clerics of Eresla typically reside in smaller settlements, or spend their lives traveling, as she dictates that they assist those who bring food to the mouths of the masses. Herbalists and rangers especially give reverence to Eresla, as she guides their gathering and hunts. Most who worship Eresla have a high respect for the balance between the natural world and developed civilization.
The Clerical order of Eresla is one of the most decentralized of the orders of the major gods, with most clerics operating nearly independent of one another, many churches to Eresla have one or two clerics in residence, with a few acolytes working their way to full cleric. When an acolyte achieves the powers of a cleric, they tend to strike forth on their own, to find where they would be most useful to their god.
