Report: Lords of Mosstown

General Summary

I (Pale Moon) arrived in Mosstown with Stiks, Jene, Robin and Patrick. Our purpose was simple. We have been routinely exploring the depth of the Torovian region known as Mosstown. What once was likely a beautiful town I may have strolled through, now lies mostly in ruin. Our excursion for the day was a visit to the Kass Manor. Grand Magister Kass as many of you know was a master of the arcane. It stood to reason that there could be many things of interest to us there.     As we arrived, we examined the manor. Much of the building was still held together, though some roof had collapsed. We eventually found ourselves inside and were greeted by two ghostly servants of the manor; Jeeves and Marie. To briefly summarize, we were essentially told that we were not invited to the evening’s festivities and that we would be made to leave: with force. We quickly de-escalated the tension. I declared myself Parrin Moore, a name that was not on the list, but one of familiarity to Kass and perhaps his staff. Additionally, we convinced the ghosts that the other four were here to assist. They found this declaration acceptable, as we were soon whisked away to a new location.     We found ourselves in an elegant, though perhaps eerie, dining room filled with luxurious dining utensils, plates, and other ornate objects. It was clear that this dinner party was for some high status individuals and those individuals waited mostly patiently, and hungry, in their chairs. The staff quickly ushered us into the kitchen where we were informed we would be cooking and serving these lords and lady’s their dinner. Among our guests were Eredainwyn, Lady Kass, and the Duke. Once again, our company was not among the living, but incorporeal. It was imperative that despite having little to know culinary experience among our group, we not fail. So we used a variety of knowledge from the alchemic to presentation with a pinch of magic to assist us. I even played some violin to enhance the mood. Despite the overwhelming odds against us, we were quite successful in pleasing all of our guests. As they left, the room became much more mundane. It was an interesting moment to say the least.     We continued through the manor and we next found ourselves approaching a ballroom, where music could be heard. As we entered, we were once again greeted by Jeeves and Marie, along with some dancing guests. They threatened us again for being somewhere we were not invited. We again reinforced that I was in fact the esteemed guest known as “Parrin Moore”. This time they seemed strongly convinced. The atmosphere changed for me and became quite pleasant. I quickly came to understand this was not the case for my companions. Jene, Robin, Patrick and Stiks began fighting with Jeeves and Marie. The whole ordeal seemed almost as if a brilliant, and violent, dance. Marie also demonstrated to us her lovely, though frightening voice. I mostly watched curiously, casting spells to calm the mood on our enemies, as the other four eliminated them.     Our last conflict occurred as we made our way outside to a balcony that wrapped around to the lord’s bedroom. On our way, we found an eerie egg. We tried to investigate it and interact with it from a distance, but my mage hand activated something unintentionally as a large ghostly phoenix suddenly rose before us. A few months ago this fight might have been extremely frightening, but I had come to trust the group’s prowess and we worked efficiently to dismantle the creature. We would come to find that this creature was at one point in time a sort of improved familiar of a kind. If Bonemeal can still exist, it’s not too much of a surprise to expect that other familiars could carry on in some form.     We finally made our way to Kass’s bedroom where we dispelled his bed, which had been spectral, before ever learning of its significance. We found some valuables in the room as well as some fascinating old notes to go along with other notes we found in the manor. We have collected these notes and intend to add them to the library collection. Torovia is a fascinating place. To think how little we’ve uncovered and the incredible things that hide down here. Despite anyone’s political or religious beliefs, we can all acknowledge that there are a great many mysteries in the world which wait to be discovered.. Or rediscovered!     -Scribed by Pale Moon     Adventuring Party: Patrick Smith, Robin Foster, Stiks, Pale Moon, Jene Dark   Date: 09MAR23
