Runidiri Elves
The Runidiri elves are an ethnicity of elves that came to the Mortal Realm from the Feywild long ago. They were the second group of elves to come, several hundred years after the first, the Tenari. The Runidiri hold sacred their pantheon of spirit-gods. Shrines to these beings have been erected around the world in the depths of nature far from civilization. It is common to see the Runidiri traveling in large bands, often on a pilgrimage like journey to the next spirit shrine.
Runidiri society largely holds the natural world in high regard but also revolves large groups they call clans. These clans each have their own unique sub-culture as well as a purpose assigned to them. While many Runidiri join a clan and live out a simple existence, there are those who become very active in the clans purpose, serving as agents of the clan. Each clan submits a member to a council in Sylvara to represent their interests and ensure their worldview is part of decision making for joint ventures.
- Starwatcher Clan: The Starwatcher clan are those with the greatest affinity to magic. They draw their power from the constellations of the spirits and other cosmic phenomena. They are less likely to venture from Sylvara on nomadic privledges.
- Balancekeeper Clan: A somewhat academic clan, the Balancekeepers are a clan with close ties to the four elements. Their duty is to make sure the balance between them remains intact. They also often appear at locations of natural disasters, like floods, hurricanes, wildfires or earthquakes occur to reduce the impact of the elements on the living.
- Moonclaw Clan: The Moonclaw clan has a powerful connection to the spirits. They have become adept at taking animal forms similar to the spirits they revere. They tend to serve as guardians and watchers of the spirit shrines, but on occasion will forge out into the world for important tasks.
- Darkspore Clan: The Darkspore clan has a deep reference for the cycle of life and often handle death rituals. They are among the only elves to feel comfortable traversing deep underground into caves and they have an affinity for fungus.
- Dreamseer Clan: The Dreamseer clan, although the smallest clan, keeps strong ties to the Feywild. They keep the old ways and practice ancient waking dream meditation. They rarely travel from Sylvara.
- Treemender Clan: The Treemender clan is by far the largest and most active clan in the outside world. They see their duty as the care for the natural world. It is not uncommon for conflict to arise between Treemender members and humans or dwarves who seek to use natural resources for industry.
