The Battle of Fate's Dawn
This popularly circulated tome tells the tell of how the War of Ashes was resolved as recounted by Cardinal Dalius Throckmortor 17AS
The Battle of Fate's Dawn was fought on the banks of the Silver river, outside what is now known as the Imperial City. The final host of demons and their corrupted mortal soldiers marched upon the city, far outnumbering the host of humans that gathered upon the city walls. It's ranks were swelled with powerful demon lords and mortal demon worshipers alike, who had come to tear down the last bastion of hope left in the Mortal Realm. As the demonic army began to lay siege with fire and brimstone, hope in the city was started to fail It was then, at dawning of the fifth day of the seige, a set of bright white sails were seen on the horizon of the Celestine sea. A massive host of Aasimar, led by the archangel Veritas of Truth and Excoria of Fatih landed outside the walls and charged the demons battle lines. The despair that had threatened the city was gone, and all those in the city, be it man, woman, or child, took up arms and surged forth from the gate of the city to join the fray. As they clashed with the demons a legion of angels descended from above, led by the remaining archangels, Paragon of Order, Judica of Justice, Benedictus the Blessed, and Rexos of Kings.
The battle lasted from dawn until dusk, when the demon lord Skorn cut down Benedictus the Blessed stabbing him in his back five times. In turn, this despicable cur of a demon lord was slain by Paragon of Order. The demon lord stood no chance 'gainst an archangel in a fair fight, and Paragon made him suffer for his sins. The demon army had begun to rally, urged on by the death of one of the legendary archangels of the Heavenly Chorus. One of the most powerful demon lords, the wretched demon Pride, marshaled the infernal host into a frenzy as they began to gain ground on the army of the light and mortal forces. But it was then that the great and terrible demon met the archangel Rexos of Kings in battle. Weilding the greatsword of Benedictus, gleaming in golden light, Rexos and Pride traded blows for nearly an hour before the demon weaked and relented. With a should of anguish and rage at his brothers killing, Rexos brought the golden blade down on the demon lord and in a flash of light the monster was turned to ash. The demonic froze in this moment, seeing the relentess power of the archangel of kings anhilate the greatest among them. They broke and scattered across the plains, fleeing as cowards and curs, being cut down in swaths by the righteous as they went. The massive host, although diminished, fled to the corners of the realm, seeking out any shadow or demon worshiper that could hide them.
The following day the Celestial army returned with Rexos, Judica, and Excoria at their head. The angels had come to reward the faithful who held out against the corruption of the demons, and for the part the humans played in this battle. While the armies of Celestine were needed in Elysium, some would remain as to help keep the peace on the Mortal Realm, and serve as guard for the leaders of this new Celestine Empire that was to be founded. Rexos of Kings annointe the leader of the faithful who remained and fought, granting him a peice of a the purified blade that had struck down his kin, Benedictus, as a reminder of not only the treachery of evil, but the power of good. He annointed this man Emperor, and granted him long life and the ability to commune with Celestine herself. And so was founded the Celestine Empire, with the goal to bring a shining light and order to all of the world, to sing in perfect harmony with the Heavenly Chorus.
