The Treaty of Dun Durak

Excerpt from an historical text by Albinius the Scrivener.     During the War of Ashes, both elf and dwarf lost more than could ever have been imagined. Culture and history of both peoples were torn asunder and homes were burnt. Triton, home of the Tenari was ravaged and it’s people decimated, leaving what remained of their fleet to carry refugees to the Fey Isles and the Cutwater Isles in hope of survival. The Runidiri, already scattered across the Realm, were hunted down, many of their spirits slain. As a people they either went into hiding or fled to Sylvara. The dwarves of Bronthrane, Aurethrane, and Dun Durak were either forced from their homes or held as prisoners in their own mountains.   Before the War of Ash, there was no great strife between Tenari, dwarf, and Runidiri, however neither was there no great love. The dwarves were industrious, and toiled away, often altering the landscape greatly. The Tenari became masters of commerce, eschewing the respect for nature for a modern materialism. Both of these things became barriers for a close bond with the Runidiri, but also both Tenari and dwarf knew not to cross the line and anger them. In the small area we now call Dol Gorak, truly three different cultures existed and flourished, however separate.     The War of Ash would change this. From all the loss and pain, one new thing was born; a sense of unity between them, a shared wound. Dwarven leaders came to the isle of Sylvara after being rescued by a Runidiri leader, the guardian of Kretek. There they found what was left of the people of Triton, the Tenari capital. With their princess missing and the royal family dead, the Tenari were represented by the remaining admirals of the Tenari fleet. The dwarves were led by the king of Bronthrane. The Runidiri had several chieftains present, however the most influential was the guardian of the tree spirit Aranyani, most sacred of the Runidiri spirits.     It was said deliberations lasted for days on end, as each group, fighting for their peoples last chance to live and be free. Finally, with many concessions made on all sides, a new bond was forged. If the dwarves, Runidiri, and Tenari managed to survive the coming conflict, a new nation would be forged. The newly aligned forces moved to liberate Dun Durak and destroy Pride, and quickly accomplished the first goal. What had been a campaign that was incredibly costly to the elves and dwarves alike up until this point, turned out to be an overwhelming victory at the foot of the mountain. On the field of battle the final treaty was signed, and immediately a new massive hall was constructed in Dun Durak, a massive council chamber where representatives from the Tenari, Runidiri and dwarves would be able to meet and vote on the direction of their new nation. Eventually the dwarven kingdoms of Ferethrane and Aurethrane joined into this pact, however Aurethrane left soon after it declared itself a city-state of the Celestine Empire.
