Heironeous

The Valorous Knight

Laws are what seperate us from beasts. We are stronger with laws. We are stronger together.
Heironeous is a firm believer in the power of laws. A God-General who once operated side-by-side with his brother Hextor to defend Agnesia's Divine Realm, he now exists to retaliate against his brother's encroachment of power. Since an event forgotten by time, Heironeous now fights an eternal war with his brother with the spirits of his followers. Despite the cruel nature of this indefinite conflict, both Heironeous' and Hextor's followers find meaning and salvation in their eternal war, and some even consider it to be an eternal paradise for their devotion.   Heironeous and his brother are both Gods of war, but they vary in terms of morality: Heironeous believes in power through diplomacy and in valiant action, and Hextor believes in power by force and through any means necessary. When and why the brothers split has long since been forgotten, but the impact of their war echoes well into Agnesia itself in the form of fierce thunder and ferocious lightning storms.

Holy Books & Codes

The Book of the Code:
  • Duty to the People. This duty stresses courage, justice, mercy, valor, protection of the weak, and faithfulness to church superiors of officers of righteous law.
  • Duty to the Arch-paladin. This duty stresses obedience to Heironeous himself, devotion to the church, generosity, championing good against evil, putting the needs of the church, and the faith above those of mortals.
  • Duty to a Lady. This duty pertains to the concept of courtly love, devotion to one's beloved, and respect toward all women in general.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Heironeous' divine symbol is a shield with a setting sun behind it. This represents Heironeous's goal to protect the world so that there can continue to be tomorrows.   Two artifacts of Heironeous have ever been found, and both of which are protected by and in the possession of the Knights of Valor.   Vesper: A bearded axe plated with silver, enchanted to prove fatal for the undead.   Genesis: A buckler shield with a luminous surface, reflecting light as colorful as the sunset. Effect untested.

Tenets of Faith

The world is a dangerous place that poses a never-ending series of challenges to those who fight for justice and protection of the weak and innocent. One must act honorably at all times, and uphold the virtues of justice and chivalry in word and deed. Danger must be faced with certainty and calm, and glory is the reward for defeating evil, while virtue is the reward for upholding the tenets of Heironeous.

Holidays

Valormight Worshipers of Heironeous celebrate a parallel holiday of Valormight on the 25th of Velox, where they celebrate the fact that the Hextorians were unable to push past that river as a great victory for the forces of Good.
