A species that believes in intelligence over everything else, the Asura are a new species to the surface world only reappearing through through their gates fleeing from an unknown threat they deem "the destroyers". Masters of technology and magic, they meld the 2 seamlessly to create many a marvel.

Basic Information

Anatomy

By human standards, asura are very short. A asura is usually between two feet ten inches and three feet eleven inches tall. They typically have slender builds, with the head, hands, and feet in somewhat exaggerated proportions. The head in particular is a wide, flat ellipsoid whose width is extended further by large, highly articulate ears which usually drop from the sides of the head. Asura eyes are large and come in a variety of colors; their size is the evolutionary result of being a subterranean race, as small frames can easier traverse their traditional homes in the depths. Their mouths are wide and filled with pointed, shark-like teeth. Asura typically have grayish skin and dark hair. Male and female asura are very similar in appearance; they are mostly differentiated by voice and ear structure.

Genetics and Reproduction

In matters of childbirth and early development, little is known outside of the knowledge that asura give birth to live young in the same manner as humans (that is, they are placental mammals).

Growth Rate & Stages

According to an asura named Budge, a child's first words can come as soon as the day after their birth, however the player character's response alludes to the speech being infant babbling; but this does suggest asura are able to learn speech at a very young age. An asura will live 5-10% longer than a human, assuming no laboratory mishaps.

the Asura are adapted to living underground, their small squat bodies and ability to see in the dark helped them traverse the caverns of the Darklands unaided. now above ground thay have sequestered themselves within their Fortress city Rata Sum.

Biological Cycle

Similar to most mamals the Asura gain mass and height throughout their young life until they reach adulthood in which imperfect cellular division slowly ages the Asura gaining wrinkles, loss of hair and failing biological systems until death is apparent.

Social Structure

The asura education holds three forms. First, children learn in small groups in labs within Metrica Province. When they're old enough, if they qualify, they join one of the three asuran colleges: The College of Statics, College of Dynamics, and College of Synergetics. Thirdly, asura will often study under mentors as an assistant; it's unclear when this takes place in the asuran education span, however. After graduation from college, asura typically join a krewe and a lab until they can become their own krewe leaders.

Rather than organized government, the asura prefer to utilize krewes: small, efficient task forces led by the most experienced member, designed to allow any individual asura to reach their maximum potential in any particular task. The asura also have a group known as the Arcane Council who are responsible for the mundane parts of asura city life. The members of this council rotate - membership into this council is granted by performing a task which benefits the asura as a whole. The role is rarely desired as it means an individual asura cannot spend time advancing one's own research.

The Asuran language is a logical piece of dialect, created to be easily learnt and able to convey as much specification and meaning as the Asura in question needs. throughout the 100 years the Asura have lived on the surface they have picked up many of the neighbouring dialects to help with trade and peaceful dialogue.

Asura are blunt and to the point, it is impolite to mince words and talk in circles around a delicate subject. it is impolite and even criminal to outright steal anothers work or idea without citing the contribution of the others work.

Common Dress Code

The Asure dress in very precise designs, caring little for things like ruffles or lace the asura will dress in outfits compromised of geological shapes and patterns either symmetrical or asymmetrical whatever the mood usually made from sturdy and comfortable fabrics to protect them during their experiments.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

The Asura Believe in a metaphysical system known as the Eternal Alchemy. It is the teaching that all things, regardless of how small and insignificant or grand and important, are part of some great cosmic mechanism. It encompasses not just the materiality of what exists, but also the significance of the interconnections between things, their ultimate fates, and as such, the "meaning" of the lives of all people as well as the life of each person. It is believed that even magic and other religions' deities are just components in the Eternal Alchemy, albeit larger components than the average person. The Eternal Alchemy is often considered a religion, though it is more of a scientific or philosophical view of life, and shares few of the common attributes of most religions. Asura will often say that while they believe in the Eternal Alchemy, it is neither worshiped nor treated with any particular reverence. While many do express awe or wonder at its complexity or its enigma, the asura generally see the appropriate response to the Eternal Alchemy to be a desire for understanding and mastery.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

While the Asura understand the logic behind diplomacy and try to stay friendly to any neighbour of equal standing or more powerful then them the Asura's arrogance of their mental superiority can put such diplomatic situations sour if they are not being careful with their words. because of their loose morals when it comes to scientific discovery this can turn off many other races especially if said race has features the Asura wish to study.
