Day of the Monarch
The Day of the Monarch is a traditional day of celebrating the current Monarch of Kupria. The day is mostly celebrated in the Kuprian capital city of Vobranas, but there are smaller celebrations scattered around the whole nation.
The Royal Feast
The day is celebrated in the Royal Citadel in Vobranas with a great feast. Among the guests are family and friends of the Monarch, and important members of the Great Houses of Kupria. The Monarch can decide to invite other people as well, especially if they have accomplished something special or done a great deed for the Crown or the nation. It's considered a huge honor to be allowed to attend the Royal Feast.
The Royal Feast is considered an important event among the Citadel staff, and every detail is immaculate and exquisite. The table setting is a matter of pride for the stewards, who always try to make it grander than they did last year. The food is always cooked to perfection and both arrangement and flavor are carefully balanced to be as good as it could be.
Security is always extra high during the Royal Feast. With both the whole royal family and the majority of the heads of the Great Houses it's important that it's a safe event for the people participating. It would be a scandal if anything dramatic happened when all the most important nobles of Kupria were in the same room.
The Year it Went Wrong
In AE 2111 there was an incident where three guests were poisoned during the Feast, including King Ilmonar's son and heir to the throne Ellarian. The details were never shared with the public, but it's apparent that the Crown Prince survived. The Great Houses are not happy with this event, both since they fear for their own safety and because they don't know anything about who did it, what their agenda was, and whether or not they have been caught and punished for their crime.
