Farmer's Demise

All of them. Dead.

My whole livelihood gone in less than a week. I wasn't sure whether it was reality or just a horrible nightmare. As it was still reality when I woke up, I realized it was real.

I don't know what to do now.
Farmer's Demise is a sickness that affects sheep. It's highly infectious and travels fast inside a herd of sheep. Most infected sheep die, and the few survivors will almost always need to be killed due to permanent effects from the sickness.

Symptoms

It takes about three to five days from the sheep is infected before it shows any symptoms. The first symptoms are usually, but not limited to diarrhea and lethargy. After a day the sheep start to shake. Then, the muscles of the sheep starts rapidly shriveling away. Death usually follows during the next 24 hours or so.

Treatment

There is no known treatment to this illness.

Prognosis

If a sheep gets infected by Farmer's Demise it has a very high chance of going through an unpleasant and slow death. Those few which doesn't die are left weak and malformed, and usually need to be put down. The very few that get through the illness without dying or getting permanent damage is still contagious if they come in contact with other sheep, so they will either have to live isolated from other sheep or be put down. The high risk of the infected sheep to one day come in contact with another sheep once in its lifetime usually the sheep is killed just to be sure the Farmer's Demise doesn't infect more sheep.

Hosts & Carriers

Humanoids can neither be infected nor carriers of Farmer's Demise.

Prevention

Thew only way to prevent Farmer's Demise to spread is to make sure infected sheep never get in contact with non-infected sheep.

To prevent spreading from dead sheep, the remains are usually burned.
