Session 39.5: All in the Golden Afternoon
Having Nesza and Griff together, April drags them to a herb store. There, together with Silmer, she explains what she's after. Plants that produce hallucinogens, have any remedial properties like removing blindness, are magical, or could heal if used. Griff was a druid and Nesza grew up in the outdoors. They would be sure to help.
Griff cast talk with plants, instantly regretting his choice as he couldn't undo the decision after. When they weren't talking to him, the plants were singing “all in the golden afternoon,” gradually increasing their intensity and volume. Asking which plants were special and wanted a home with someone who knew how to take care of them, all the plants started asking to be picked. They were all special and wanted out. Except one little grumpy plant.
Nesza in the meantime started looking around to identify plants he'd grown up with or seen over his years. He's envious of Griff being able to talk with the plants, though Griff tries to encourage him never to try talking to them. He does, however, give in later and ends up bopping a bit to the tune they're singing.
Together, Nesza and Griff identify a grump bamboo plant as unique in personality and find a plant in dirt coming from the Lazaar principalities. The latter was confirmed by Silmer, who reveals that he grew up near there before Chenlon took him in.
Silmer observed the chaos. Griff was now humming the song and Nesza was trying to talk to the plants as best he could with April nodding vigorously at what he was saying. He sighs and turns to the confused owner of the store. “Do you happen to have any plants with magical properties?” The answer? “Why yes we do, here's a list...”
April leaves the store with the grumpy bamboo plant and an enthusiastic plant that loved the prospect of being in loam soil. Well... fancy soil as Griff had explained it. He didn't get April's lengthy explanation and just trimmed it down to fancy.
Before leaving with some other selected plants, April bought some passiflora, panax and taraxacum in a pot.
Afterwards they looked into housing with a layer to ensure Nesza could move into Sunny's house. It was no officially his in the eyes of Thrane. He began making plans for a druid HQ, drafting various people to focus on certain points of the house.
