Session 39.5: Healing Genti and Healing Hearts

Griff had been visiting Genti daily, helping him heal up.   Genti looks like he wants to get out of bed, he seems anxious. Griff asks if Genti is ready to get back on the road. Genti says he is indeed eager to get back. They talk a bit about the importance of family. Griff mentions he gets why Genti’s doing this and tells him to get well soon and do what he must do so he can go back home. They smile. Cissa walks in with tea and asks if she is intruding.   They discuss life, Griff shares what happened when Corinne was young and flew of on Godric and how she’s grown to now even be the keeper of the Heart of the Spire of Life. Whatever that may mean. They leave Genti and Cissa invites Griff in for some tea. They discuss what went down on the island with the Commedor. Cissa mentions that it just seemed it wanted to talk, or defend itself. What she describes reminds Griff very much of how people treat monsters. Griff mentions that he does not like how she did it but agrees that it was what needed to be done. He tells her how he knows Dreas and Sarah and that they are reasonable people to him. Cissa shares that Dreas seemed drawn to the Crystal and it really freaked her out. Griff mentions that this will help their son, and he will defend her and explain this to them when he sees them.   Cissa asks Griff if he has been in touch with Celine. Griff mentions he does not want her to wait for him while he might die and keep her from being happy. Cissa tells him off for making that choice for her and offers to contact Celine. Griff tells her he will write a letter himself, and he has been sending her postcards. Griff mentions that his heart has been broken before and he does not expect her to wait for him.   They discuss love and live in general. Cissa explains that being a bird there are rules regarding kids and it’s really limiting. Griff tells her it’s the same for House members. The House has made his love live difficult also. Cissa brings up that she appreciates Griff visiting Genti and that Genti does not like his stepmom stepping in. Griff raises a brow at this. He asks her if they were together in Thrane. Cissa says they were. Griff tells her that his first love was a man, David. And he’s never been able to openly talk about it. Cissa gives him a hug and tells him he can openly talk about it with her.   Griff asks her for non-violent advice as she is part of the pacifist bird organization. Cissa chuckles and tells him that she does not have an answer but the point behind it is that it’s always the difficult choice. Just don’t choose violence. Griff tells her everything regarding what they’ve learned about the Mark and Jossac’s involvement with the Sicklemen. Griff mentions that he’s going to ask his family to give Genti and his group a “safe Passage” when they “Passage through”. Cissa chuckles. He likes Genti, and knows Tristan's sister is with that group as well. He would like to give them a place where they can rest safely.   Griff asks Cissa for advice on how to deal with love given the long live he is going to lead. After connecting the dots, she explains to him that you’ll lose people but should never not love. She explains that she and Emir also have an agreement that if Emir can find happiness with someone else she would rather step aside, knowing his life is so fleeting that she does not want to hold that over his head, knowing she’ll find love one day. Griff calls her a hypocrite as it’s the same he is doing with Celine. Cissa tells him the difference is that she is giving him the choice and is not making it for him. Griff takes a moment to think this through and mentions he’ll do this and thanks her for her wisdom.   He tells her that he’ll keep the group safe. They are under his wings. Cissa tells him to also take care of himself. Griff offers her a deal, as he’s going to be around for a long time, every so often they’ll meet up to remind each other not to give up on love and have fun rides on Godric. Cissa agrees to this.
