Gatekeepers

The Guardians of the Gates are the religious protectors of the knowledge of the Kingdom of the children of the E'torrars. They take care of writing, copying and maintaining the works stored in the royal libraries.

Career

Qualifications

Using velin from Madral, the Guardians of the Gates follow a very thorough training on the work of this material and the processes of its manufacture, in addition of course to a nearly ten-year training course to teach them to handle the language like no one else.

Career Progression

Gatekeepers' pay increases with seniority. In addition, many of the Sun Pontiffs come from this institution.

Payment & Reimbursement

Their living conditions are therefore quite high compared to the rest of the population. Equipment, raw materials etc. are directly taken care of by the kingdom.

Other Benefits

People entering this profession, although living more or less secluded, are very well seen throughout the Southern Kingdom, they do not pay taxes and receive donations from some of the faithful.

The profession as a whole is made up of just over 600 people, making it one of the most closed professions in Sienne.

History

The order was founded at the same time as the Shrine of the Agnus, some decades after RoĆ°tull'heill was founded as a small fishing village. At that time the Gatekeepers had to fend for themselves and cultivated their own land.

Although it brings a certain prestige, the profession is not very much in demand. It seems that locking yourself up for 40 years in a library does not please everyone.
