Shirren

The Shirren are a race of incredibly mutable insects formerly part of the Hivemind known as The Swarm. The Swarm was a destructive force known for cleaning planets of resources but it was destroyed after refusing to submit to Qual Conquest in the year 2850. The Patron Prime known as So'Va'Tar Killed the Queen using his psychic power brutally severing the link between the entirety of the Swarm. Chaos tore apart all the Swarm had built, and who ever was able either fled or were off planet during the death of their Queen.

After the Shirren began to recover from the shock and change they began searching for their kind, lost without them. After the Hivemind was severed an interesting mutation began to manifest, The Shirren were originally a primarily male race with a female Queen. But, many of them were manifesting feminine characteristics; others were developing primarily neuter aspects; these Shirren gained the ability to reproduce. The extreme specialization quickly began to disappear from the Shirren as a whole, averaging out into a bipedal locust-like insect with compound eyes and antennae. The Shirren began to consolidate into colonies experiencing distrust wherever they went. The Shirren separated into small groups to try and find a new home, many found homes on outskirts of the new colonies of the Evercall pact and Etherian Systems.

Shirren today are still rare but now have solidified homes on many planets and seen as a valuable member of the colony. Shirren are often very hospitable and prefer to avoid violence.
