Zephner

Zephner are a newer magical race spawned by the Black Diamond War. They are a peacful, sylvan species with ties to air magic. Though small, they are deceptively quick and agile. They have a natural affinity for magic and are a nomadic race. Little is known about their culture, though they don't seem to congregate in numbers or create any type of civilization. They move through the world with natural curiosity and innocence, making them eager allies and loyal companions.

Small and delicate, zephner have white or silver hair with sylvan features. Their skin and eyes can be any color. They resemble elven children in some ways. Sometimes the air moves around them, stirring their clothing or nearby items. Zephner are slightly taller than gnomes, at about 4 feet tall. They are very light, weighing around 45 lbs.

 

Zephner Characteristics

 

Zephner are quick and clever creatures. They seem almost restless, cursed with an endless desire for new experiences. Many don't concern themselves with politics or religion, instead choosing to go with the flow and accepting the world as it is. Their natural affinity for magic, combined with their young age as a species, can make the zephner capricious at times. The elemental forces of air bound inside them give the zephner a deep appreciation for freedom and movement.

There is no rhyme or reason to the way a zephner will dress. Each is a unique being, figuring out the world and their place in it. Most gravitate towards magical professions, but there are a few who have explored other paths. Zephner tend to be neutral creatures, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

Windborn

You know the mage hand cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the feather fall spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the levitate spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast feather fall or levitate with this trait, you can't cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
