Generally these stories have a young protagonist that disobeys a parent, or questions some common wisdom. The character then goes against this wisdom and finds out the reason for the rule, or the dangers it's meant to protect them against. Often times at the last minute concerned family swoop in and save the child, and the audience is hopefully convinced not to try to do what the child did. However there are a few variations on this ending. Typically for extreme dangers, or when the creators really wanted to drive the point home, the concerned people arrive too late, and there's a sad ending with a village elder or someone reminding everyone of the rule. Other times, this can instead turn out to be an epic tail of a feat of survival, conveying tips for how to survive in the environment and make it home safe if a kid get's lost, or is foolish enough to disobey.

However, there's also a good deal of regional specific dangers that appear in these stories only in a few places.
