The Dead Library

Nuhfastu is where stories are laid to rest by the Gatherers of the World. The building was constructed by the Gatherers in the year _____, as a place to memorialize dead and lost stories. It hosts a large collection of paper books, and a growing collection of stone carved copies, made of the more famous stories in an effort to help them resist the wear of time, living on in their death, being remembered.

Architecture

The Dead Library is made of stone from the nearby hills, and boasts tall polished stone shelves. Some of the Library is actually carved into the hillsides from expansions of the library, as well as to make some portions of the library easier to regulate the temperature of.

History

Before it was built, people within the Gatherers would occasionally suggest the creation of a place to preserve dead or dying stories, and as a monument to stories lost in the past. Some were motivated by sincere concern for stories that might be lost, hoping to have a place to preserve stories that were being lost after being written down and killed for their preservation. Others wanted a symbol to represent the lost stories, and some wanted a place for the stories so that they might one day be remembered by future generations.
Ultimately, it wasn't until ____________ became the High Seeker that an attempt to actually make something was started. The initial plan was for it to be a new special library for endangered books with it's own staff working to keep the books in good condition and contingent of Defenders of the Library who would protect it. Additionally it would be closed to the public accept for special occasions
On it's completion the building was restricted to books that were older than 50 years, and with few remaining copies left. Overtime, restrictions were loosened allowing some new books to be directly added if the stories were unpopular, or had few copies made at all.
Later, a new section was added to the library called The Pillar of the Lost. On the pillar are the names of old stories that have been lost. Each year there is a special ceremony, ______, during which the new names are unveiled and people are allowed to look through the library and mourn old stories. At the start of the ceremony, the High Seeker gives a speech, one of the shorter new stories is preformed, and the new books are brought in in front of the somber crowd. Afterwards they move to The Pillar of the Lost where the new names of lost stories are revealed. After that, people are free to look around, and maybe learn a new story before the place is locked up once more.
