Scrapper Combines

The Combine would have stood two stories tall, a platform on spindly legs, a giant, rusted metal spider of comically fearful size. Five of its eight legs had been ripped from their sockets, so the bulbous cockpit was only a few feet over her head. Jhana glanced over her shoulder at her crew, tightened her grip on her weapon, a cell carbine she'd saved up for.   The Combine seemed to be freshly abandoned. Two corpses were strewn on the rocky, wind-swept surface beneath the vehicle. For a Combine of this size? Jhana wondered where the rest of the crew were. The area was clearly deserted.   One of her crewmen gasped, and then pointed.   A black, shapeless form, rising from the dust-swept surface, outlined against Third Moon. A creature of horror and nightmare, of pure malice and utter destruction.   "Instruments above ..."
Since the The Halley War and it's predecessors, the surface of Sine has become a toxic waste of knife-sharp rock, poisonous bog, flesh-rending wind, and toxic ocean. For some, navigating such a landscape is not a distant nightmare but the reality of existence. These people are those of the Nomad Federations, the Shiga-Zann, or, more commonly, Scrappers.   To traverse such a surface, these crews and clans use Scrapper Combines. These vehicles are rugged, unorthodox, and, above all, without set blueprint. Some are specifically acclimated to certain environments, while others are designed for any and every form of terrain. Ranging in size and shape from rover-type hovercraft to 10-wheeled tanks to huge, house-sized walkers, no Combine design is known to be traditional.

Notable Combines

In both the Tori underworld and Stationary slums, Scrapper crews and their Combines can, for various reasons, become renowned, sometimes quite easily.   Jhana's Corsairs is a Scrapper crew based from Station 14. Their Combine is a land-based tank, known for its distinctive Whitefiend icons. The crew are said to be of Robin Hood motivation and their daring, Sovereignty-defying escapades serve as inspiration for many young Scrapper crews.   A known rival of Jhana's Corsairs, The Outcast Vox are a crew known for their religious zealotry, and the associated iconography inscribed on their slow, heavily-armed Combine.
