The World Shard
It is said that somewhere deep beneath the surface of each plane is it's world shard. The core of that world and all it's powers rest inside this piece of astral gem. It is believed to be massive and if you looked upon it with a light source you would go blind due to the reflection.
There are scholars who believe that the shards have dissipated over the millenniums of the planes' existence to create the world as it is. Some believe the shard is the source of all the magic in the realms, and if they were taken or destroyed it would turn the planes into wastelands.
There are rumors of a group of individuals searching for the shards. Believing that they can physically own them, becoming the most powerful being next to the primordials. This is of course only a rumor. No one as ever met the party searching for the shards. There are never mentions of names or origins of these people.
History
The primordial Primordial Aegis was courting the primordial Primordial Terra and turned one of the pockets of entropy into a gem that refracted every color spectrum. Aegis presented this gem to Terra and it inspired her to create. She shattered the gem into 7 pieces, embedding them into her own flesh. From the wounds sprouted what is now known as the planes. First was the plane of earth, then water, fire, and air. The Scáth Réimse grew from Terra's deep, darker emotions while the Wylds grew from her positive emotions. As Terra finished the Wylds and began making the material plane, she fell and did not awaken. Her creation magic was completed before the fall and the material plane, Daeara, came into being. Daeara didn't leave her body like the others did. This is why the material plane is called Terra by those who live in the Wylds, because it lays on her body and is a part of her.
"It is said, that in the beginning there was only chaos. A black nothingness with pockets of entropy that if a mortal were to look at would drive them mad within a matter of minutes. There was no up, or down, nothing to orient the mind, just space and entropy." - Excerpt from 'A Fantastical History of Daeara'
