Trade and Circulation
If the stable Raven function as the heart of a flourishing Sjonderwold, then the traveling Raven are its blood and nerves. Small caravans travel back and forth between villages, and larger ones travel the length of the Sjonderwold. These caravans carry goods and information bought and sold in part on a friendly barter system, where coin is preferred for its interchangeability but work and necessary supplies can be offered if a family was lacking means or has something a caravan needs.
These traveling caravans are as reliable transportation as one could ask for, and almost always the most expedient as well. Not only do the Raven make roads along the long and easy or difficult and necessary sections of their journey, but they also map out and maintain secret paths for those who travel in haste or in secret.
The Raven also travel in sufficient numbers that they can ride night and day without stop, and to facilitate this each wagon of each caravan is equipped with the tools and furnishings needed to function as a cramped but comfortable home. As each generation builds upon the success of the last, the carts and wagons develop distinct styles and modifications – almost always clever ways of adding storage space – that make them unique to their riders and perfectly suited for the terrain most commonly encountered by that caravan.
