Clan Traits

To reflect the cultural influences that shape the members of each clan, characters in the Sjonderwold are granted additional traits according to the clan they choose.   Depending on the nature of the campaign, additional traits may be available as characters level up.  

Low Affinity Campaigns

In a Low Affinity Campaign, characters only receive the Clan Trait for their Clan.  

Normal Affinity Campaigns

In a Normal Affinity Campaign, characters receive the Clan Trait for their Clan.   If neither their Lineage nor their Class are considered Rare for their Clan, they receive one Basic Trait at level 1, one Advanced Trait at level 7, one Exemplary Trait at level 13, and one Legendary Trait at level 19.   If both a character's Lineage and Class are both considered Common for their Clan, they receive an an additional Basic Trait at level 1 (to a total of 2), an additional Advanced Trait at level 7, an additional Exemplary Trait at level 13, and an additional Legendary Trait at level 19.  

High Affinity Campaigns

In a High Affinity Campaign, characters receive the Clan Trait for their Clan.   At level 1, a character receives one Basic Trait if neither their Lineage nor their Class are considered Rare for their Clan. If both a character's Lineage and Class are considered Common for their clan, they receive an additional Basic Trait.   At level 7, a character receives one Advanced Trait if neither their Lineage nor their Class are considered Rare for their Clan. If both a character's Lineage and Class are considered Common for their Clan, they receive an additional Advanced Trait (for a total of 2 Advanced Traits) and an additional Basic Trait (for a total of 3 Basic Traits).   At level 13, a character receives one Exemplary Trait if neither their Lineage nor their Class are considered Rare for their Clan. If both a character's Lineage and Class are considered Common for their Clan, they receive an additional Exemplary Trait (for a total of 2 Exemplary Traits), an additional Advanced Trait (for a total of 3 Advanced Traits), and an additional Basic Trait (for a total of 4 Basic Traits).   At level 19, a character receives one Legendary Trait if neither their Lineage nor their Class are considered Rare for their Clan. If both a character's Lineage and Class are considered Common for their Clan, they receive an additional Legendary Trait (for a total of 2 Legendary Traits), an additional Exemplary Trait (for a total of 3 Exemplary Traits), an additional Advanced Trait (for a total of 4 Advanced Traits), and an additional Basic Trait (for a total of 5 Basic Traits).  

Saga Building Campaigns

In a Saga Building Campaign, characters recieve Clan Traits as they complete heroic deeds in line with the values of the Clans. When the Game Master determines that a character has exemplified the spirit and the ideals of a given Clan, they may reward the character with a Clan Traits appropriate to their level. Characters may only earn Basic traits until level 7, Advanced Traits until level 13, Exemplary Traits until level 19, and Legendary Traits thereafter.   If the GM determines it appropriate, a character may earn traits outside of the traits normally available to the Clan the player chose during character creation. At the GM's discretion, acquiring traits outside of a character's starting Clan may impact the difficulty of acquiring traits for the character's starting Clan.   Saga Building campaigns may be used in conjunction with any other style of campaign, or as the only manner in which Clan Traits are earned.
