Red Coughing Sickness

The Red Coughing Sickness exists in many variants and for centuries was perceived as very deadly. In fact, many infections had a fatal result if the victim was already weakened, an infant or elderly. With the discovery of the haling properties of Zezzu, this has changed drastically.

However, due to a short supply of Zezzu in the old countries, a certain treatment is only available to wealthy families there. Many poets and critics have called the Coughing Sickness the Sickness of the Slums, since there it spreads almost uncontrollably and claims many victims, while the rich stay unaffected.

Transmission & Vectors

The illness is very contagious and can be transmitted through air and touch. It will take a day or two after infection until visible symptoms appear. The person seems to be contagious a day before visible symptoms arrive. I

Treatment

The Coughing Sickness usually starts with a rash and a dry cough. Over the next few days, the body willl develop a high fever and will need a lot of liquids for sustenance. Assuring an adequate nourishment, the Sickness can pass in a few days, but if the cough develops further and the victim coughs up red phlegm, then the chances of survival are slim.

Prognosis

Most strains of this disease put so much pressure on the boy, that an already wakened, very young, elderly or malnourished person can easily die without proper treatment. The usage of healing magic can improve the chances of survival as well as the application of medicine made from Zezzu
