Tear of Lirini

And on her head, she wore a silver coin embedded in a leather band. It was that she closed her eyes whenever she raised her bow, but every time her arrow would find its mark. If you looked very closely, you could see the coin shimmer in a mystical light. It is said, that this was the legendary relic of Lirini, the tear she shed for all those fallen in the war of the races.
Whoever would wear it, would have a steady hand and a fortified heart, to never lose their head in battle and react swift and just.

And every day the Hero of Larrana proved to be worthy of this relict.

The Tear of Lirini is a silver coin with a diameter of circa 5 centimeters and a thickness of circa 0.3 centimeters. On its surface, the symbol of the deity Lirini is engraved. This engraving cannot be altered by any known means, nor can the coin itself be deformed, melted or otherwise destroyed. Wearing the coin in a way that it touches the skin, increases the focus and speed of anybody enormously. The coin was into possession of the royal family of Rhomedan for millennia but has been lost the past hundred years, after the rightful heir Sebastian Larritena disappeared under unknown circumstances.

History

It is said that the Tear of Lirini was one of seven artifacts the gods had left behind the mortals after they ascended. Lirini herself was once said to be taking care of some mortally wounded people after a big battle against today unknown foes. The story tells that Lirini, not yet a deity at this point, tried to save the life of a friend dear to her, but when she saw that all hope was lost, she wept for her friend. It so happened that one crystal clear tear fell down on the wounds of the dying woman. The sorrow and humility encompassed in this tear was such a powerful magic, it sealed the wound and brought the person back to life.

As Lirini ascended, she once more bid farewell to her dear friend. But this time she used her magic to remove the silvery substance that saved her life once and fashioned a token of her affection for it. In it, she engraved the symbol of the bond between her and Laenora, the symbol of the moon and the arrow. Coincidently this would become the symbol for Lirin herself later on.

Cultural Significance

Not only did the coin granted amazing powers of swiftness and level-headedness to the wearer, it became a symbol for Lirini's blessing herself. Consequently, the Tear of Lirini became an integral part of the Crown of Rhomedan, the ruler's insignia for the empire of Rhomedan. While the crown itself had many different shapes and incarnations over the millennia, any crown is only then the legitimate symbol of the rule, when it holds the Tear of Lirini itself.
