Spirit Worshipers

About half of the population of Vadath follows Veritism. The other half either follow no church or they follow their old religions. There is no proper name for this belief, other than spirit worship. The followers of this mindset believe that there are no true gods. Instead, every person has three spirits unique to them which watch over them. A spirit of Strength, Knowledge, and Fate. These spirits are the ancestors who have made it to Vaseul, the land of spirits. Each spirit is unique to each person. One man's strength spirit might urge them to fight and wage war, while another's man strength spirit might encourage using their cleverness to get ahead in life. The spirits cannot be seen, though there are those that claim this is the case. They also do not speak. Instead, people listen to their spirits by following their instincts and emotions.   To these believers, the world was always present. It was waiting for the arrival of man. Once they arrived from the belly of Jotun, the spirits descended from Vaseul to act as their guides. Sometimes, an elder will tell a child “You have your grandfather’s strength.” or something similar. This means that person shares their grandfather's strengths and ambitions, but also means their grandfather made it to Vaseul.   Strength represents what you are good at and your ambitions. This spirit also controls your fighting spirit, leadership abilities, and lust. Knowledge represents your ability to understand. It also controls your patience. Fate is a tricky spirit. It commands no personality. Instead, Fate tells what your destiny is. It is believed that some can be stronger with some spirits and weak with others. Someone with strong Strength tends to be leaders, strong Knowledge creates wise men and doctors, while strong Fate leads to adventurers. Whether this belief has any truth to it is up for debate.

Structure

Spirit worship has no proper structure of priests. However, each tribe has a tribe elder. The elder's job is to remember and tell the stories of the people. This includes their mythologies. Today, elders act as historians.
