The Toothsmith

"One. Two. Three... oh! An extra large one; ah yes, from the baby orc. These will all go so nicely with the others. I wonder what I will make with them this time. I already have a sword, shield, and chainmail. I know! Perhaps a a cape; maybe a short one. After all, we don't want to drag these precious little things along the ground, now do we?" The sprite excitedly left their perch, a worn oak bedframe of a sleeping human child. Flittering through the night sky as the sun began to peak above the horizon, the sprite made their way back to the tangled forest where their shop waited.   "Oy! Flannery! Have you got more teefs for me today?" A giant compared to the sprite, the orc put her gloved fists on her hips as she watched the sprite, Flannery, weave through the vines and branches.   "Not as much as yesterday, but it's quality over quantity as I always say."   "I don't think I've ever heard those words come out yer mouth before. Besides, I think it'll take more than a few good ones to really get our lot on the map." The orc turned back, her fiery long hair flipping to the side, and headed under the canopy of animal hide stretched over a wide work area. Across a long table of slender branches tied together with rope was an assortment of supplies: threads of various colors and thicknesses, needles so small you could mistake them for silvery pine needles, drilling tools dusted with a white powder, and unfinshed works that looked like they might not get finished.   The sprite landed silently on the edge of the table, unloading their miniature bag of holding. "This bag was one of our best purchases. Normally I can only hold a couple teeth at once, but now I can collect as many as I want!" Flannery's feet danced a little jig as they poured out more teeth than the bag looked like it could hold.   "By Odin's beard! That's quite the find my friend." The orc stepped over to pick up the baby orc's tooth, a smile forming on her lips as she began thinking of when she was a small orcling.   "Not so fast, Betta!" Flannery shooed her friend's hand away with their own. "You know the rules. Only after I've strung some together can you hold them, otherwise you'll drop or crush them!"   Betta recoiled and held her slapped hand in show. "My hands may be large, but my fingers are just as nimble as yours!" She knew Flannery wasn't being mean; the sprite was just very particular about how the teeth were handled.   Flannery rolled their eyes. "I know, I know. It's just that it wasn't easy getting this one," they held up the orc tooth in both outstretched arms. "Even for someone as nimble as me, I had to be extra careful. So we'll save this for a special project." Flannery gently placed the large tooth in a jar containing several other oversized teeth.   "Well fine," Betta huffed. "Then what's the next project to be? There are so many of these itty bitty ones." She went to reach to pick one up but thought better of it.   The sprite grinned, wiggling her fingers in anticipation. "I'm thinking some type of cape. Ooh! How about we call it the cloak of ivory?"
