General

The pink mist-infused Tidal Waves are a dangerous weather pattern that often devastates whole areas close to the shore. While the death count is often low or even zero, due to counter measurements and good training of the operating forces, the chaos that these waves bring is huge. These waves are towering walls of pink water that crash upon the shore leaving behind a larger band of sea foam upon the shoreline and the seas. These waves spawn at what appear to be random times, regardless of tide, season, or currents. It could be a clear sunny day and suddenly a wave starts to form and darkens the sky and sea. The size of these waves can be as small as 20 feet high or well over 100 feet. On Bardor whole seaside towns have been swallowed by monstrous waves that reached thousands of feet high. The water eventually settles and returns to a more normal situation leaving behind large stretches of sea foam and a bit of erosion, otherwise, it would be hard to say a tidal wave had occurred.

Areas

The weather only appears on the shores of big oceans that have a strong pink mist infusion. The infusion doesn't need to be close to the shore but can be out in the ocean as well.

Danger

The Pink Mist Infused Tidal Waves are one of the more dangerous phenomena. The wave itself is not particularly dangerous; in fact, if you were to compare it to non-infused tidal waves, you’d find them not dangerous at all. The danger lies in two aspects that the foam of these waves brings into the shore towns.

Bubbles

Those who are unfortunate enough to be in the water or upon the coast the waves crash upon are encapsulated in large bubbles made from the sea foam. This foam bubble does hold air and provides a protective film that deflects debris allowing the person to stay safe where in a typical tidal wave these would be primary dangers. But for as much safety as these bubbles provide, it is also a danger. The infused foam is very thick and rubbery making it very difficult to pop and causing the bubbles to breathe much slower making it far easier for the trapped to pass out particularly if they panic and fail to pace their breathing. This is most dangerous during the wave as with the larger waves it could lead to suffocation. However, this circumstance is rare, and most people manage to live through it even if they pass out. People who pass out often get just enough oxygen to stabilize once the wave subsides and the surface of the bubbles. Several bubbles often will even wash out to sea.   The threat isn’t over after the wave has passed either. Large stretches of foam will remain on the shoreline and the coastal waters. Contact with the foam will result in the foam pulling the person into a massive collection of bubbles. The bubbles cling to the person and then merge into one large foam bubble holding them captive on the shoreline. These bubbles are particularly stronger and harder to burst, not to mention repeatedly being captured if the foam is not cleared up. Likewise, victims ashore are subject to melting, but it does take a little longer, and they are more prone to being rescued.

Melting

The second danger lies in the softening effect of the foam. The film of the bubbles and the foam is extremely strong and can take days to weaken and often people do not even have that long. Being trapped in the salty foam bubble starts to cause a reaction. The body starts to break down, melting into sea foam to strengthen the bubble. It is very likely without rescue that a person will melt completely. The person’s consciousness is not lost but becomes helpless drifting on the sea as a sentient bubble.

Counter measurements

As the wave and its foam are considered dangerous, things must be done in order to minimize the hazard. Evacuations are often not an option as the phenomena are unpredictable and little warning can be expected. However, caution and preparation do go a long way to minimizing the danger. First is that seaside towns should be prepared to have easily accessible shelters for people who are outside to avoid being swept up. Second is preparation and training for the rescue and clean up. It is imperative for those swept to sea to be retrieved by sea dwellers, be they mermaids, sirens, cancer, or otherwise. Luckily a bubble that has already captured someone is easy to hand as it doesn’t often capture more than one target. For the empty foam or the strips on the coastline, tools will be needed to corral the foam and minimize the affected area, this can be done with magitech or infused tools that can more easily push or in some cases pop the bubbles. For victims who melt partially or fully. There are means to extract the lost genetic structure from the foam and reconstruct the person. However, there will be some lingering pink mist energy that can linger and cause health issues or infusion.
