The Frozen Rains

The Frozen Rains are the blossoms of the Rain Trees. These blossoms appear every 1,000 years and are beloved possessions for their looks and magical abilities. However, some Frozen Rains do not have magical abilities, and to magic-users these are "errors", because they bloomed wrong, and are, to them, useless.

These blossoms are called "frozen rains" because the trees usually bloom after a rainstorm, giving the idea that the rain "froze" on the tree.

Watching It Blossom

Although the trees grow on are found in extremely harsh conditions, the blossom is still a beloved sight to see. There are a few known places in the world where there are fields of Rain Trees, but nonetheless every 1,000 years hundreds of people will go to one of these places and watch the blossom happen.

The people will bring large tents, jackets, warm food, and anything that will keep them warm from the cold weather. After they set up camp, they wait. Most of the time the "Day of Bloom" is estimated, and rounded back several days, just to make sure the day is not missed.

After waiting about five days, a large rainstorm that comes mixed with hail and snow. The people will take cover and wait out the storm.

Once it is over, the sun will come out, and touch the small, hard, bud. The bud wil feel the warm sun and unfurl. The leaves protecting the Frozen Rain will fall off leaving only the beautiful gem.

Manifestation

The Frozen Rains take the appearance of diamonds-like gems. These "gems" dangle off of the tips of the trees branches, making it very easy for them to shine and glint. However they shimmer even more so when it's windy. (This wind actually helps spread these blossoms, starting the growth of a new Rain Tree.)

The Frozen Rains, besides looking like gems, also feel like them. Many of them have a very hard exterior with sharp edges. If they do not have a hard exterior or sharp edges is is called an Error.

Natural
