The Story of the Duskhorn Horns

Many do not see what is there. Wizards and those skilled in the mythical arts describe it as the mental blind spot. Duskhorns are one of many mythical creatures drowned in this blind spot, making them nearly invisible to those who aren't looking. Duskhorns, the fallen shards of the moon's spirit, reincarnated as animals with the elegant ram horns of the rams. There used to be rams, rams who stared at the moon when it was still alive, but that time has passed. Now all that remains of the moon's spirit bears the ram horns as a symbol of their grief and failure. It is a long story of how the moon failed the rams.  Written by the hand of Grandweaver Lexus II Year of the Laughing-Penguin     Long, long ago... A time when the rams graced the mountains   A time when the rams stared at the moon   A time when the rams were alive   Rams are intelligent creatures, known for their ability to speak and their keen minds. They are said to have enough mental powers to enhance their normal abilities, as to jump farther, climb faster, and overall be stronger.   There was once a ram called by many as Bearcaller, a daring name as bears were one of the more dangerous predators of the rams. As everyone knows, rams are one of the four creatures who could talk to the moon: rabbits, rams, bears, and wolves. Bearcaller believed that she was special, that she had a special relationship with the moon. Every night, she called the moon down, pushing her abilites to the limit and daring the moon to do something for her. She used her heart and soul, her very abilities seeming to shred the sky of clouds. It was rumored that Bearcaller had even more mental prowess than other rams, such that she was unnaturally powerful.   But the moon was not to be messed with. With the slightest nudge of his mind, she was destroyed. Utterly destroyed, massacred, and terminated. The mountain, once high as the clouds, was flattened and droven down with such power that it created the biggest canyon in Smarkah to this date. It is now labeled as the Calling Canyon, after Bearcaller's name. Bearcaller, who singlehandedly flattened every ram in Smarkah with the biggest act of foolishness.
