Ep. 307 Fuck you in Particular

General Summary

Doing the time for no particular crime, our party struggles with the prison life before being taken away and shipped down the river. An antimagic field strips them of their powers and their weapons are taken by the bandits, whatever shall they do?! Well, take forever to come up with an escape plan of course! And end up winging it in the end anyway!
(seriously though guys, I love it. I love when you guys take the time to plan shit and then lean on your chaotic ways)

After being pulled off the cargo ship, our daring party finds themselves in a bandit camp; locked away in cages beside a captured Tiefling, Wit, and Dwarf, Tordek. Captain Skerret had been kind enough to slip a key into Baelai's sleeve, allowing the party to escape from their shackles as they devised a plan. Flint, as usual, decides to spark combat by lighting the entire camp on fire. Without his arcane focus, however, a surge of wild magic also bursts forth and... teleports Flint outside of his cage. How lucky!

The bandits were no match for our overpowered heroes, and it didn't take long for everything compile into a pile of ashes. Including the many Vargouille (pronounciation TBD) and Mind Devourers. At long last the bandit captain was all that remained. Farryn casts her mighty shadow magic, which not only damages the poor guy, but also turns everyone INVISIBLE due to a surge of wild magic. In an attempt to save his life, the bandit captain trades the party information about the Black Wing
  • He's Human
  • Got blue or sometimes black eyes
  • He's big, and his nasty looking assistant is even bigger
  • This camp of bandits isn't the only one that the Black Wing has working for him
  • No one really knows what he does with the mages
  • Also he's got these big cats as pets

The party "convinces" Rorik, the bandit captain, to take them downstream to wherever he meets with Black Wing to pass off the mages. For the long few day journey, the party has plenty of time to decide what to do. Morale is low, despite Rorik's hospitality and cheese platters. The party is starting to doubt their ability to help Quinn, and are showing signs of turning back after all they've been through. Do they just sneak in? Do they just go in spells a'blazing? Do they summon friends? Do they build an army? But how long would that take and will Quinn still be alive?

“Hey Dyorin. Billy here. We might be going somewhere dangerous. Two questions: can you teleport? And do you know a man named black wing? Thanks!... Bye.” - Baelai (through Sending)
“With a ring I have and another caster - yes I can teleport - Black Wing is an alias used by my brother - you’re right, very dangerous”
“fuck”  - Dyorin

Farryn and Baelai have a heated discussion about summoning Dyorin and making him fight the Black Wing, which derails into childish spatter about summoning demons with blood and dating angel frenemies. Flint is now completely in the know.

FINALLY, they make it to Black Wing's tower. Their final plan being to send Black Wing on a wild goose chase. After parking(?) the ship just downstream of the tower, they lay their trap for the Black Wing. It isn't long after that they witness the hulk of a man, armed to the teeth and sprouting 4 hideously rotted black wings, fly away with a gust of chilling wind. They may not have long, time to invade the tower and save some mages.
“Hey. It’s Billy. We’ve heard reports of missing mages and ran into werewolves. Think they are connected to a man named Black Wing. Heard of him?” - Baelai (through Sending)
“What? Hell. Missing mages sounds bad, I wouldn’t be shocked if my brother was involved. Where are you? I’m non-magical, I can help you.” - Black Wing
"We're hiding in the Kadra Mines in Ehohm Peaks. How soon can you be there? We suspect your brother too." - B
“I warned you that he was a dangerous liar. It will take at least three days. Don’t move if mages are in danger. Stay safe. Please.” - BW
