Alba

A once verdant but now desolate country within the coalition. Home of the warforged. Formerly named Etruria, it was renamed during the Century War, when the countries landscape was drastically changed by the invading force of the Valinȁrl. Alba houses a large series of fortified tunnels beneath it which are built to withstand lengthy periods of siege. These tunnels are where most of the citizens of Alba reside to this day. During the century war, life in Etruria was near impossible. Forced to retreat underground and with supplies dwindling, the researchers of the country created a construct in which to house a soul. By doing this, they created a way in which their citizens could survive.
Cities on the surface of Alba are slowly being resettled but most are too ruined or dangerous to live in.
When the war was in its final days and the King of the Valinarl was close to being captured, several groups of elves, who objected to their leaders and the wars they created, came forward in order to negotiate a peace for themselves and their fellow elves. Many Albian citizens couldn’t tolerate this. They had lost not only their home, but their bodies. It was a cold, bureaucratic way to end such a personal vendetta. To be expected to sit and bear it whilst those, who they felt were responsible, were able to escape without punishment.
After the war had finished a splinter cell of vigilantes and terrorists from this group attacked several major cities. This targeted coalition members and elves alike, who had played a role in the war and its conclusion. Their aim was to kidnap these important figures, extract their souls and insert them into faulty constructs.
