Wavebreaker
These large vessels built for travelling over the Basalt Sea, a previously impassable ocean, are built out of the docks of Land's End.
Clifton & Sons, a relatively small business based out of Veyrieux, began construction of the first Wavebreaker. Based on blueprints drawn by Louis Cliffton, the youngest son of the family, its creation was based solely off of their companies funds. A huge financial risk that paid off in spades, the WaveBreaker is now one of the most desired pieces of machinery the world over.
The estimated time of the average wavebreaker voyage to Arcadia takes 2 years. A new ship leaves the port at Land's End around every 5-6 months, if nothing goes wrong. Construction of Wavebreakers is a lengthy and expensive process. Crews need to be trained in the proper usage of equipment and regular checks need to be done to the existing ships to ensure safe passage.
With the lengthy voyage, and no magically produced foods, due to the anti magic field that exists within the ship, rationing can also be problematic. All in all, a round trip can turn out to be very expensive, even when paying the minimum for an economy ticket.
