Aervus

History

The Aervus believe themselves to be evolved from an ancient race of dragons. They hold themselves in high regard, seeing on the High Elves as being on par with them. During the great migration even that brought the dragonborn to Soanus it was a council of Aervus mages that were able to devise the magic to bring them here. While they did need help from some of the Qelun to gather enough power they believe themselves to be the saviors of their race.

Society

The Aervus have a council of powerful Wizards that run their society. This council is known as The Order of the Pure, a reference to their beliefs that their ancestors were pure blooded dragons. While they will occasionally do business with other races they will treat the others as lesser beings. When dragonborn eggs are laid, the type of offspring is unknown until it hatches, because of this all eggs are kept in hatcheries and protected by heavy guard. Once the eggs hatch they are matched with an adult who will become their caretaker. These caretakers teach in a trade, or purpose for which they will use for their life. Any hatchlings that are Qelun are sent to live with the Qelun and any Aervus that are born to the Qelun and brought back to the Aervus.

Appearance

• Height - Standing between six and seven feet tall the Aervus are slightly shorter than the Qelun on average. They are considered medium creatures.
• Build - With a life more centered around study than manual labor the Aervus tend towards more slender builds.
• Skin - The scales of all dragonborn can come in many colors based on their draconic lineage.
• Hair - Typically dragonborn do not have hair, the do have horn instead, on some the horns will grow pliable like hair.
• Facial Hair - Some dragon born have additional spines that grow from their chin and are similar to those that make their hair.
• Tail - Unlike their Qelun cousins the Aervus have a tail that they can use for balance and as an aid when swimming.

Traits

• Age - Young dragonborn grow quickly. They walk hours after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach adulthood by 15. They live to be around 80.
• Speed - Aervus have a walking speed of 30 feet and a swimming speed of 25 feet.
• Draconic Ancestry - You have draconic ancestry. Choose one type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry tables. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the tables below.
