The gods walk the earth, still shaping the world, teaching their children, and expressing their attributes. The new growth over the ashes of a dead world is their garden. New creatures, peoples, and exotic flora fill the world each day. New radiance, shadows, and dreams come each night. In the growing light of dawn, the world awakens.

From below, the old world stirs, giving up horrors and wonders is equal measure, calling down the brave and foolish to seek its treasures, and entrapping those who cannot resist its tides. Aberration itself belches forth from the old corpse, both held in check, and enticed itself to the light above. Whether it bears value to either is known only to those who walk within it.

The struggles have already begun, and wars have already been fought. The gods are not in unity. And the conflict ages the world into its conscious era.

SoJourn is a high magic setting where players can encounter wildly unusual cultures and creatures, as well as familiar ones with completely different natures than that of their common portrayal. The gods, being not much more than extremely powerful people, are still in the process of making the world, and as such, it is subject to change at their whim.

Some of the cultures presented here, as they are based on the realistic development of cultures and societies through resources and geography, may bear coincidental similarities to real-life cultures. These similarities are not intentional, nor are they representative of these cultures. Any concepts such as slavery or racism are the results of the society and nature that was developed or the corruption of said society or nature. These concepts are not intrinsic to the setting, but can exist depending on your interpretation of the world.

This setting is compatible with D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and most OSR Rulesets.
