Skyfall Islands

Geography

The Skyfall Island chain is made up of seven main islands, each with their own resident tribe, though there are scores of smaller uninhabited islands dotted around. The main islands are fairly large and are covered in ancient rainforests. A few of the islands have what can be considered mountains, and natural springs can be found on most islands in the archipelago, bringing hot water rich in minerals to the surface. Wide beaches covered in silky, white sand are a common sight, though the capitol, Erurias, is entirely surrounded by jagged cliffs, preventing access to the island from all points other than the extensive dock on the island's eastern side. So unusual are these cliffs that it is commonly accepted that they were created artificially, probably through magical means.

The waters surrounding the archipelago are reasonably shallow with an average depth of around 15 meters, making the area reasonably safe for sea life to congregate. Protected from the open sea by the reefs surrounding the archipelago, the water is warm, calm and crystal clear. These safe shallows extend out between 150 and 200 meters from the archipelago before they meet the reefs that serve as natural breakwaters that protect the islands from ocean waves.

Fauna & Flora

Skyfall is home to ancient rainforests which cover most points of the larger islands, with the exception of small areas carved out for settlement. Among the evergreens grow various tropical fruits and berries, as well as the occasional toxic plant. Brilliantly colored birds can often be seen flying from island to island across the seas, making their nests in the giant emergent trees, or on the roofs of the local's homes. Other forms of wildlife such as monkeys and big cats can also be found in the forests.
The waters surrounding the islands are home to vast coral reefs and rolling meadows of seagrasses, all positively brimming with life. Aside from fish, crustaceans and cephalopods, creatures like turtles, dolphins, sea snakes and sharks are common in the shallows and coral reefs. Once the sun sets, the reefs and meadows take on a different look, with bioluminescent corals and plants bathing the sea floor in a rainbow of colour.
