The Chaste Mantis (a.k.a. Talang)

"The Chaste Mantis. In Katchoin mythos, there was once a Katcho revered for Their beauty. The Fateful Day passed-- the start of the Great War-- and Their body morphed: no more were They a biped. Their legplan became quadrupedal, with Their sole remaining arms hanging atop Their elongated torso. They are now known as Talangon, or "Bakke mutant deity"."
---An entry from Ke'tlan's journal of Solarian Mythos

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Mirror

A symbol of self-reflection, the mirror is representative of a person's agency. It also begets confidence, a knowing that, deep inside, the course of action taken is the correct one. There is the hidden meaning of vanity, as Talang was known for being exceptionally beautiful. This meaning is not one self-imposed; rather, is imposed onto Them.

The Stone Scarab

As it somewhat characterizes Talang, the stone scarab's meaning is one that imposes truth on oneself, even when one isn't conscious. Originally a funerary artifact found in the far southwest, the scarab was supposed to resemble the deceased's heart; as such, Talang was depicted as a vividly-patterned Queen of Hearts in human card decks.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Judge the morality of others: praise the righteous, as the sinners will be damned.
  2. Judge the morality of one's self: constant introverted reflection will keep one pure.
  3. Be mindful of your own actions: others may reflect back the sins that you could not see.
  4. Absolve yourself of your flaws: so long as you recognize them with haste, your purity is retained.

Holidays

Fête de Lune [Lunar Fest]: Lune 36-42 [Achos 8-14, or July 26th-August 1st]

A week-long festival initially made to celebrate the year's crop and livestock yields, Fête de Lune is now used as a day of merry-making, gift-giving, and overall having fun. The latter half of the week is usually taken off, for both schoolchildren and working adults, when they usually have a feast with their family and loved ones.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To test humanity, is Talang's ultimate goal. How They go about it is by roaming the Forgotten Lands of Eris, making sure that the remaining Peoples populating it are still prospering. Talang helps the People with what needs to be done, and They only ask for their faith in return. Talang is keenly aware of death, as They were around during the events of the Great War, as the field medic many called the Gods' Heavenly Wings.   Like the Drake's Ire Genbu, Talang is but an avatar of the Nature Guardian, the first Golem that Vite formed upon creation of the planet. Each avatar of the Nature Guardian embodies a specific concept of life; in the case of Talang, it is prudence, and a deep respect for the soul's appearance. When an avatar of the Nature Guardian dies, They will never return; once all of the Nature Guardian's avatars die, the apocalypse is said to commence.
