In session 2, the group sets out towards the library, but is soon confronted by a group of plague doctors who have appeared near the location where the book was thrown. Sornen approaches them and engages in a conversation, during which Gaelan reveals himself to be "Blessed with the Plague Mother's gift," referring to the goddess they serve, Cara. Lorgar also takes an interest and uses his magic to dispel the group, sending them fleeing. The party then stops to purchase supplies before entering the library.
While outside, they come across a group of nobles and knights, with Gaelan observing the situation from above in bird form. He witnesses an old man using magic to steal a necklace from one of the nobles and informs Sornen, who goes on to steal the necklace from the man. The mage tries to retrieve it, but the party steps in and convinces the local guards to take the mage into custody.
Gaelan is given the necklace and feels better as it blesses him and keeps his curse at bay. The group continues to search the library, with Sornen finding a book about cults and learning that the cult of Cara is located just two towns away. Lorgar talks with the head librarian and discovers that the plague book they encountered was owned by a man named Hugo Payne. Meanwhile, Felana scolds Sornen for her actions and Sornen apologizes, leading to a make-up kiss on the cheek. Gaelan, meanwhile, is caught stealing books but is not turned in by the patron who caught him.
The group decides to move on from the library and head towards the local jail, where the mage caught by the guards was being held. Lorgar and Felana approach the jail, and Lorgar uses his magic to start a fire within the prison. This prompts the guards to rush out in an attempt to put out the fire, leaving the mage alone for a moment. Taking advantage of the situation, Lorgar enters the cell to interrogate the mage. However, the mage was uncooperative and only insulted Lorgar, declining Lorgar's offer to join the party and instead demanding the return of the necklace that was taken from him. Despite Lorgar's efforts to reason with the mage, the conversation ended on a sour note and Felana and Lorgar left the jail, continuing on with their journey.
