New Amsterdam
Located in the Cygnus Sector, orbiting a solitary, yellow dwarf star, its possible to find the planet that on the star maps is known as under the name New Amsterdam.
The history of the planet are one of the those planets that explores just found, cataloged and then scribbled down a name before moving on to the next solar system, it would take decades before the planet were settled but due to its climate, it were forever doomed to be one of those backwater planets where the planets inhabitants just tried to make it from day to day and the wider Empire of Earth had forgotten about the planet.
Geography
The surface of the planet is dominated by desert wastelands, although there are some beauty in the wasteland as the vast dunes of golden sand stretch endlessly, only interrupted by random rocky outcrops that are ancient and weathered.
Climate
The planet experiences extreme temperatures, that experiences scorching days followed by freezing nights, on regular intervals fierce sandstorms whipped up by unrelenting winds, these sandstorms sweep across the landscape and shapes the ever-shifting landscape.
Fauna & Flora
Besides the human settlements, life has found a way to make New Amsterdam their home despite the challenges the desert provides every day. These lifeforms range from shimmering sandglass that helps hold on to some of the dunes and is actively planted around human settlements to lower the amounts of sand being lifted by the winds.
The planet is also home to more complex life in the shape of sandstalkers that are well camouflaged and elusive, they are hardly ever seen by humans but several have been caught on cameras. It is believed that these sandstalkers hunt some mice-like creatures that seek refuge in the caves during the scorching heat of the day.
