Turnelly-class transport

The Turnelly-class transport was the first large spaceborne containership, the ship consisted of a section at the front where the ship so steered from as well as containing the crew quarters for the crew of 60 but the later models introduced about 20 years later were able to reduce the crew down to 10 with many systems being automated and the crew mainly being there to maintain the systems and take over in case systems broke down.   Since the 2040s transport ships have regularly flown between Earth and the Moon but these were only around 100 tons for the large ones, and around the 2050s they began to fly to Mars as well when the Turnelly-class was first introduced, it was the largest ship ever constructed by humans and reduced the price of transported goods to and from Mars overnight by a large margin.    After the front section, a long tube extends from the section and ends in the engine section where the 5 main engines are located as well as the rear position thrusters, the tube itself can retract into half the size of when it is fully extended, this function is mainly used for then the ship is moving to another spaceport without any containers.    When the tube is fully extended and the ship is carrying a full load of containers, the ship can transport 1000 containers, these containers are similar to the version transported on containerships on Earth but they have been modified so that they can be pressurized if needed but they look the same although about half a meter larger in height, width and length.   The class quickly earned the nickname "Fishbone" due to the design of the class, later models were more streamlined with the containers inside the a large pressured hull.
