Objective

Meet with Kisarana at the Torriage Wood Moonwell to discuss the construction of the memorial alter.

Observations

  • Byron's horseshoes become unstable with a day's use. You will notice sparks coming from them.

  •
  • Kisarana is a powerful ally who has the best interest of the Ffolk in her heart. But she is still regaining her strength and memories.

  •
  • Meteors are effective against Bane followers.

  •

    Follow up

  • Provide further aid to Byron's testing of horseshoes.

  •
  • Kisarana may want assistance when meeting the king. Or at the very least, command might be able to help with give her some contacts that she can set a meeting up with.

  •
  • See what Kisarana decides to have inscribed, and what significance it has.

  •

    Preparation Details

Halar received a summons from Kisarana about the Torriage Wood Moonwell memorial alter's construction. It read:
      > Greetings Halar of the Loyal Fury,
      >
      > I, Kisarana Telielyran, known to Fort Vegapath as Sara, am the new protector of the Moonwell in Torriage Wood. It has come to my attention that you have plans to construct in the vicinity of my sacred site. This news has caused me great distress. The Moonwells have been a symbol of the people's bond with the land for countless generations, and I cannot allow it to be sullied.
      >
      > I, therefore, summon you to the Moonwell to engage in discussions concerning this matter. Your intentions have the potential to cause irreparable harm, and I cannot permit this to occur. I implore you to comprehend the significance of the Moonwell and the Twilight Song it embodies. It is not merely a place of worship, but a source of spiritual enlightenment and solace fo those who seek it. I have devoted my existence to preserving this heritage, and I will not allow it to be marred.
      >
      > I eagerly anticipate our forthcoming meeting.
      >
      > Respectfully,
      >
      > Kisarana Telielyran,
      > Priestess of the Twilight Song

    Operation Details

Jacob was riding a horse as Byron observed. The horse ran fast and rose into the air in an uncontrolled manner. Jacob jumped off and the horse as it continued in circles, rising further into the air. As the horse kicked off the air, sparks could be seen. Caelindriel was able to lure it down with sugar cubes (Elouise's idea).
We decided to help with further experimentation and took 5 horses outfitted with Byron's horseshoes, including the one from the incident, Princess. The others were unnamed, so I named the one I took Notlyq. The horseshoes are inscribed with runes that are a family secret of Byron's. Each sigil is crafted for individual creatures, working off their natural essence, so it would likely not work well for non-horse like creatures. While the flight aspect of the horseshoes can be controlled with good control of the horse, it is still not recommended as they weren't designed for that. So it is recommended to never have horses equipped with these run as it is speed that causes a takeoff. Also, they need to exit/enter the fort through the front gate. It is still not safe to teleport with them. While away, Byron was going to re-shoe Lyq while we were gone so that we could see its effect on a
Note: The horseshoes need to be a well-kept secret. So if a horse equipped with them dies, they need to be recovered.
We stop at the memorial tree and alter on the way to update the names with Sketch. The alter is nearly complete except for the inscription. Three soldiers were eating there, resting during patrol and would leave shortly. And offerings of gold, fruits, and candies were in three pots. Some weapons at the base.
As Ralla went to carve Sketch's name, Kisarana emerged from the tree. We had a good talk where we learned:

  • Has a low opinion of Fennster and his wife, Zora. Zora is referred to as 'the swan' by Kisarana.

  •
  • Wants to speak to the king.

  •
  • Has severe gaps in her memory, but it is coming back slowly. She doesn't fully feel like herself.

  •
  • Genuinely cares about the Ffolk people.

  •
  • Is actually interested in the memorial, despite the tone of the summons. She's interested in how people use it as a destination of pilgrimages.

  •   Kisarana asks us to pray with her at the alter. We accept and when we pray, the feeling of cold washes away. The snow completely goes away and nearby plants and tree begin to flourish. The ground starts to shake as the tree grows significantly. Fruit began to sprout from two limbs. It was as if though it was Summertide. When asked if we could have a fruit, Kisarana said we should 'allow the fruit to grow flourish, give it time.' The prayer also seemed to help Kisarana as she expected. This is the best she's felt in a hundred years.
Kisarana shares the story of the three sisters. How they were left to populate this land. They taught the song of creation, but its grown weaker. Afterwards, we notice what is presumably the three sister's shadows nearby. But we are unable to interact with them.
Ralla inquires about a mark on her back, which Kisarana claims is the symbol of the queen of dragons. Offers to help cleanse or to have Ralla come back another time and perform a ritual and see where it takes them. Also offers to heal Caelindriel's eyes, but he declines.
She warns us that she suspects things will get worse for a while. That she hasn't seen this place like this in some time, not since the elves came. Blue breath has changed the darkness that is trying to reset the world.
Lastly, she mentions that there is a human south of here that smells of death. We offer to deal with it for her and set out. After a short distance, we come across a tiny cabin, and we approach. After talks fail to get us into the building, and noticing the mark of bane on the hidden on the house, we force our way in. The human perishes to ash during combat and we are unable to question them.
Through a bit of demolition, we gain access to a large room hidden beneath floorboard and blocks of sandstone, something that was built a while ago. It has a storage area where we find a suspicious looking morningstar. We leave it alone, but it attempts to talk all party members except Halar into picking it up. It tried to appeal what they were desiring, including offering to smash the door at the far end of the room. In front of the door was a large handprint made of blood. Behind that door, we sensed five undead, but were ultimately unable to open it. We were able to open a trapped chest that had jars of organs.
We find symbology for four knights kneeling to someone on a throne. We recall that 10-20 years after Kendrick came here, a small faction of bane knights formed with 1 leader and 4 subordinates. This may be their tomb.
Kisarana sent a messenger squirrel, and we relay the situation. She flies to us and opens a portal in a tree that takes us back to the memorial. There, she sings a song similar to the one heard in the darkness, but happier. Four small little balls of light form in the ski, then plummet down onto the Bane followers' tomb. I offer to let her choose a more appropriate quote to adorn the memorial alter. She will give it some thought and let the stone carver know.
On the way back tot he fort, Ralla's and Elouise's horses run 40' feet in the air. The strain of going the whole day seems to have made the horseshoes buggy. Both Ralla and Elouise fall off. We were able to recover Ralla's horse easily, but Elouise's falls and hurts its legs. Freedom of Movement from Torji helped it push through enough to make the journey back.
