Follow up
Recommend mission for border patrol counter. Our team was more lucky than good.
Preparation Details
We were heading to a Druid Circle, brought our druids and a mage with language spells.
Operation Details
TP'd to southern base. We headed SSE.
Shortly after crossing the Darkness. We encountered Snowdown border patrol. Which was a literal mounted flying dragon. Our first reaction on noticing something was to hide in the tree and snow. We waited a short bit but the dragon seems to be patient. We then opted for a distraction and used my familiar to fly away from where we were heading. The dragon did chase, and eat Odin, but this gave us sufficient distraction to continue on.
.
As we encountered the circle, it is a henge. Carvings in stone seem to suggest it's meeting and greeting place. Deity of Chentea. We found references to preferred sacrifice of honey, and gems. Kasfer was the focused party on study and translation. Recommend further inquires directly with him.
From the henge, we followed a small path to a ruined village. (No survivors,) Area littered with small rat holes. Literal rat holes, visually witnessed the rats upon departure. Looked to be similar to the rats encountered at the Ogden's Mayor's mansion and those ate magic, so we proceeded with caution.
Across a small stream, but in the ruins of the village was what once was a fine church. Steeple has since fallen. the floor of the church has collapsed and is now a literal necrotic tar pit. Further more, we encountered likely one of the hardest hitting bastards I've ran into.
For lack of a better name and because he emerged from it I'm labeling him the Tar Lord.
His initial form (because he grows later) was 12 feet tall. Massive, tanky hulk, wields sithe. Has the ability to psychically/magically catapult rubble across his temple throwing my arse to the floor repeatedly. Damn thing literally ran and broke through stone walls, so around him ruins are more concealment than actual protection.
*Tar Lord REGENERATES!* Engage with fire as that seems to negate his regeneration. Though we did inflict significant damages to him, he returned to the necrotic tar.
We slowly retreated but saw him rise again from the tar. This time 20 ft tall and wings.
We attempted to rapid retreat as Tar Lord charged and fired a disintegrate spell.
.
Respect to Kasfer who was riding a Horse wild shaped Ralla. It was clear Tar Lord was targeting Ralla, Kasfer moved themselves to take the hit.
Blessedly they were also able to quickly move both of themselves out of the way of the disintegrate shot.
We fell back and returned to Southern Outpost. Upon return inspection we did find we had tracked in some bits of the necrotic tar. As with previous experience, we burned the tar on sight, and seemed to be successful.
