War Temple of Tempus

On the outskirts of Bounty, nestled alongside the High King's Road, stands the temple of Tempus - a bastion of strength and training for the Ffolk people. Commissioned by none other than the son of the Jarl of Rogarsheim, this grand edifice boasts of being the largest shrine to the Lord of Battles north of the Swanmay River.   Here, soldiers of all stripes gather to sharpen their blades and hone their skills, for they know that within these hallowed walls lies the key to their victory in battle. Veterans, grizzled and scarred from years of service, pass on their hard-earned wisdom to the next generation, ensuring that the legacy of their hard-fought victories lives on.

Purpose / Function

The war temple of Tempus, now home to the esteemed Order of the Broken Blade, exists as a place of martial knowledge and a sanctuary for veterans who can no longer fight on the front lines. Here, they can continue their battle by passing along the essential skills and knowledge they have acquired over years of dedicated service to the realm.   However, make no mistake - this training is not for the faint of heart, nor is it intended for the average soldier. The trials are rigorous and unforgiving, testing the limits of even the most skilled and stalwart warriors. It is said that only those who possess the utmost dedication to the cause of war and the strength of spirit to match will be able to learn from the old masters.

Architecture

As one passes through the towering stone gate of the temple of Tempus, they are immediately greeted by two buildings that stand as the very pillars of the temple's ongoing war effort - the barracks and armory.

Barracks:

Within the barracks, Direhar Cador Davenskire, the high priest of the temple and a veteran soldier of the king's army, resides. The building not only serves as a dwelling for the soldiers, but also houses a reliquary, a war-room, and private quarters for the high priest. An observation room faces the training pit in the middle of the grounds, allowing for a clear eye view of the soldiers as they clash in iron-clad combat.

Training Grounds:

At the northern side of the sand pit, a massive statue of The Foehammer looms over the fort, keeping a watchful eye on all who enter its walls. It is a tribute to the god of war, a symbol of strength and valor, and a warning to all who would dare to challenge the might of the Ffolk people. Beneath the statue lies a pit of cindering coals, whose heat is said to never dwindle as long as conflict stirs within 200 miles. These coals serve to stave off the winter cold and provide warmth to the soldiers during their training.

Mess Hall & Armory

Opposite the bunkhouse lies the mess and armory - a place where soldiers gather to break bread and prepare for battle. The food may be meager, but it is a vital source of sustenance for the warriors who call this place home. For the soldiers of the temple, mealtime is not a time to slow down and enjoy, but rather a time to replenish their strength and prepare for the battles ahead. And yet, the soldiers also find solace in the stories and tales of their fellow warriors, who stay to train at the site.   The armory, on the other hand, is a treasure trove of weaponry and armor - a place where one can find everything needed to study the art of combat. But for the soldiers of the temple, a weapon is more than just a tool for war. It is an extension of themselves, a reflection of their training, skill, and dedication. They know that a personal relationship with their weapon is essential to achieving victory on the battlefield. Thus, the armory is not just a collection of equipment, but a place where soldiers come to forge a bond with their chosen weapon.

Defenses

Enclosed by towering stone walls, the temple stands as an impenetrable fortress - a testament to the might and valor of the Ffolk people. Manned by over a dozen skilled soldiers and hardened veterans, this bastion of strength is hailed as one of the most well-guarded areas north of Ogden.   Regular patrols on the road and walls keep a watchful eye on any would-be aggressors, ensuring that the temple remains impervious to all who would seek to do it harm. The guards are ever-vigilant, their keen eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of trouble, their swords ready to strike down any who would dare to approach too close.

History

Having traveled the isle of Alaron, Master Rogarsheim saw great potential in its people, and sought to rekindle their courage and sharpen their combat skills. While on his honor walk, he became entwined with the efforts of Fort Vegapath, a forward operating base for the Lord's Alliance which has grown substantially since its inception, now serving as the headquarters of all operations within the Isles. After fighting alongside the soldiers stationed there, Erik was inspired to build the war temple.
