Lamian-Dorimus Railway

The Lamian-Dorimus Railway runs between North Gate Station in Dorimus and Harrogate Station in Irese's capital, Lamian. It runs parallel to Iberan Pass, making it a more direct path between the two countries.

History

In 4065 A.A., fifty-nine years prior to the beginning of The Arcana Quest Series, the rober baron and Grey Lord Kensington Fletcher began planning this massive undertaking. At the time, Dorimus was in the midst of a deep depression and one in two Dorimusians were out of work. Fletcher had taken advantage of that in his factories by having poor worknig conditions and long hours while threatning to set up his factories elsewhere when protested by the Dorimus government. He took advantage of this financial depression again by offering high wages and a hefty life insurance policy--if you took a risk and laid railroads in the Wraithlands a few feet from the Iberan Pass.   Fletcher had an agreement with the Iresian and Dorimus governments to close the Iberan Pass between midnight and seven am so that construction could take place without closing the pass completely. Historians suspect Fletcher gave huge bribes and negotiations to legally undertake this task, further bolstered by the fact that conditions and hours within his factories improved.   The death toll during this project was massive. However, it was lower than actually predicted by newspapers, The Cathedral Central and The Dorimus Telegraph. It is suspected one in four workers who worked on the project were injured and one in seven died.

Construction

Construction properly began in 4071 A.A. and lasted for twenty-one years. Due to only having five hours to work (not including getting to and from the construction sites), carefully transporting materials on the narrow roads, and the fact workers could be safely on Wraithland land for only forty-five minutes at a time meant that the time investment was extensive.   There were multiple teams on sites at all times: construction workers, staff/oversight, engineers, protection forces, and medical staff. It was the largest Dorimus construction project in history and, despite it's high death toll, was one of the major factors that got the Dorimus and Iresian economies out of their depressions and stable again.

Knowledged Gained About the Wraithlands

Up until that point, most knowledge about The Wraithlands had been conjecture. However, Fletcher kept researchers and medical staff on-site at all times and how long people could safely remain in the Wraithlands (forty-five minutes), how to treat wounds caused by Wraithlands flora and fauna, and the fact that fire, loud noises, and being shot with weapons kept most of the flora and fauna away from the construction sites.
